My wife and I stayed for one night, and it was fabulous. The staff was wonderful, animals were great, and accommodations thoughtfully chosen for understated luxury. Fresh eggs and coffee in the morning, comfortable bed, thermostatic shower, quiet surroundings to relax on porch and enjoy the evening...all was wonderful. Of course, the alpacas were great...little hint...if you want to make some new friends, bring a bag of baby carrots with you...
My daughter and son in law and I decided on a weekend in Salida for hiking and some R and R. I booked two weeks out and found that there was not much left for dog friendly accommadations. We took what was left. But were we pleasantly surprised. Jane was great with communication about the stay. and providing directions to the place. We loved the apartment it is decorated like a boutique hotel. The bathroom was luxurious and we felt pampered. The furnishings and decorations were chic. We had planned on taking a long hike to Browns Creek Waterfall. But all we wanted to do after that was hang out at the apartment, it was so comfy. The added bonus was the Alpacas on the ranch. My daughter would love to have a hobby farm with alpaca, so she was thrilled to have the opportunity to be around them and to have the tour that Dito the ranch hand provided! Dito was a great host and made sure we had what we needed. It was so cool to be in the pen with the alpaca, and to learn about them. Another bonus was fresh eggs each morning from the resident chickens.
We would love to go back!!
We could not have been more pleased with our stay. If I could give six stars I would. The apartment itself was clean, modern, and incredibly comfortable--which is our general expectation. But what we were not expecting was how wonderful an experience we would have staying on an alpaca farm. Our dog was able to roam the farm freely (I think he even loved the place more than we did!), and the kids just absolutely loved the farm animals. The manager of the property, Dito (hoping I spelled that right) is terrific. He was welcoming and friendly, and gave our young kids a tour of the whole farm, exposing them to the alpacas, rabbits, and chickens. The kids even got to reach under the chickens to get fresh eggs, which he then packaged for us to take home. Fantastic experience for everyone in an absolutely beautiful setting. We will definitely visit again.
We really enjoyed the stay surrounded by snow covered peaks. Dito was a gracious and informing host. He gave us tours of the pastures and barns as well as introducing us to the colorful laying hens and one proud rooster. The cabin was great with a very comfortable bed. Salida was a great town to visit. Great dining experiences.
