“Hidden Gem near Poncha Springs”

This is a great little cabin tucked away in the mountains with a babbling stream running just below the back deck. Has everything you need: full kitchen with fridge, laundry, propane grill out back, and is super clean and comfortable. One bedroom, but couch folds out into a second bed. Two baths. Radio and sound system. No TV...but owner has a pretty good collection of DVDs. Wi-fi for laptops, but you will be taking a break from your cell phone...which we enjoyed. Was torn between giving this one the awesome review it deserves and keeping it to myself so nobody else finds out about it....just lovely!

“Mountain get a way.”
Reviewed 14 June 2016 for a stay in May 2016

This cabin was better than I expected, clean, modern and neat as a pin. Dan went out of his way to make our stay special. I especially liked morning coffee on one of the three decks overlooking the creek. The bathrooms were immaculate and the kitchen fully stocked with utensils and cookware. You will have to bring your own DVDs and music as this is in the mountains and internet is spotty.

“Has everything going for it!”
Reviewed 18 October 2015 for a stay in October 2015

This is the kind of place I love to find! The evil little devil on one shoulder wants me to keep it to myself so I can make sure to have it available when I want to revisit, but the angel on the other has won, so I'll share my happiness. The location is fabulous, the setting is quiet and scenic, the cabin is modern and has everything we could ask for and more. I've already told my daughter and her hubby about it so they can escape there.

We visited on a perfect fall few days. Spent a lot of time fishing on lakes and the Arkansas, hiked around some, checked out the town of Salida, watched the birds and stars from the deck. The cabin's only 3 miles off HWY 50 and 5 total from Poncha Springs, so getting in and out is easy.

The pictures don't do the place justice - it's very modern and welcoming, as was our host.

We didn't try out the sofa bed, so no idea how it would work for adults.

No cell service, so we brought our tablet and used the free Wifi for connecting to the rest of the world. As if we really wanted to, ha ha!

Definitely a special vacation spot.

“Quiet cabin retreat”
Reviewed 17 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

We had an amazing stay at the Spruce Ridge Guest Cabin. It was everything we were hoping for: comfortable, private, clean, and all the amenities of home (washer and dryer particularly came in handy). Dan was a great host and we enjoyed every moment of our stay. We loved the views, the three decks, and the peaceful sound of the creek just down the ridge. It was a wonderful soundtrack to fall asleep to. Full kitchen with everything we needed to prepare our own meals (including a gas grill) and we are already looking forward to a return visit. We just can't decide if it will be this winter or next summer. Highly recommend!

“Beautiful cabin, great location, awesome surroundings and amenities”

The cabin was spotless, has lots of light, is very roomy and has lots of storage. Three sliding glass doors and lots of windows! The radiant heat was extremely comfortable, as were the mattress and bedding. The llama-themed decor was very tasteful, and the colors soft. It has been so well maintained it looks new, but is 8 years old. We liked the close access to hiking trails into the National Forest, and took several that were off County Rd 212, where Spruce Ridge is. Greens Creek was our favorite. On the drive from Denver to the cabin, we saw elk, pronghorn antelope, a coyote, and while there we saw an eagle, many birds and hummingbirds. Best of all was the privacy and QUIET. No sound but birds and running creek. Elevation at 8500' was nice and cool; it's surrounded by lots of 14,000' peaks.
