La Casona is, apparently, the only hotel in San Rafael. We stayed at the hotel for two nights, before and after the wedding of our friends who live nearby. If I had the option to rate the hotel as "good", somewhere inbetween "very good" and "average", this is what I would go for.
Located in a rather bland buiding from the Franco era, the nicest thing about the hotel was probably the expansive green area surrounding it. It contained a small bar, a children play ground, a small swimming pool and plenty of green where kids could romp about.
The hotel itself was rather average. The rooms were ok, but a bit worn, and our double room was on the smaller side. The breakfast in the huge restaurant area was not too bad, but it was not the kind of breakfast that puts a smile of your face in the morning.
All in all, if you need to stay in San Rafael, there is no reason not to stay in La Casona as long as you don't demand too much, just don't expect to be overwhelmed.More
