***WARNING***
Do not stay at this motel. I have never had a more awful experience at a hotel, not only with the quality of the rooms but dealing with management as well.
We arrived at check in and from the beginning was given the impression that our staying with them was an inconvenience of some sort. Considering the parking lot was completely empty and seemed there were only two other rooms occupied, I don’t understand the inconvenience that was portrayed.
Moved into the first room which had a broken A/C unit in 100° Grand Junction weather. When we asked to move rooms they seemed frustrated with us for their broken A/C.
The second room had a functioning A/C, great. Later on in the night we realized that the toilet was soiled from the previous guest. I will spare the ‘dirty’ details, but picture splatter from the previous guest on the underside of the toilet seat and drips down the side of the bowl. Absolutely disgusting. Being 10:30 at night, we decided to stick it out in the room as the beds were clean and address the bathroom situation in the morning.
Come morning, we go to check out the continental breakfast in the morning which was pathetic. They have fridges labeled with all the things they should have for the breakfast i.e. Jimmy Dean, Yogurt, Cream Cheese, Butter, etc. All that was out at the start of breakfast was some milk for cereal, OJ, Apple Juice, and a fruit cup. Considering the breakfast area was set up for much more than that I asked the front desk person if there was any more of the rest of breakfast left. I was met with such a rude reply of ‘No’ that really caught me by surprise.
After my breakfast question I started to explain the situation with the dirty bathroom. I was interrupted by the guy with a response of we dont do housekeeping. I explained that this would be more of bringing the cleanliness up to par to which he replied ‘You are wrong the room was clean’. Then he launches into a rant about ‘first you complain about the air conditioning, you make us switch your room, then you complain about the next room being dirty, then you complain about my breakfast’. He storms out of the lobby to talk to another hotel employee. As he leaves I hear him say ‘I hate these expedia people’. I was speechless to say the least.
As we were suppose to have one more night at this hotel I reached out to expedia for help canceling and refunding that second night. Expedia was very helpful but had no help from the hotel. The expedia agent called the hotel to confirm what was going on and according to the agent the hotel staff yelled at them over the phone for even calling. Expedia graciously refunded our second night stay directly as they saw first hand how awful the staff is here.
Luckily a much nicer hotel was available across the street for almost the same price. They were super kind, checked me into a room at 10am, and even said they have heard terrible things about the baymont.
Moral of the story here, steer clear of this place. I have never written a review in my life, but this experience felt like it warranted sharing with others. I stay in a lot of hotels for work, some better than others, but this one is by far the worst I’ve come across.
