Marvelous Maxwell Anderson

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 7 Dec 2024
Steps away from the train stop, Hotel Maxwell has been updated and renovated and has a modern lobby with seating to relax by the fireplace. We were a little bummed that our rooms were outside at the end of the block, part of the updated extension of the hotel, and not part of the main hotel - however, the room was so well appointed, new, and clean (and we loved the Pendleton throw blanket) that it wasn't a huge deal. The walkability of this location is ideal. We highly recommend all of the nearby restaurants and the Doc Holliday graveyard hike is nearby as well.
Date of stay: October 2024
Room Tip: Ask to get a room in the original hotel.

Barbra, thank you for sharing your experience at Hotel Maxwell Anderson. The team is pleased to hear you appreciated the renovated lobby and the well-appointed, clean room. It’s great to know that you loved the Pendleton throw blanket as well. Though your room's location was not in the main building, it's wonderful that it did not impact your stay significantly. The hotel's walkability to local attractions and restaurants is indeed a wonderful feature. We hope to see you again in the future.

This is our second time staying at this hotel. The first time (a year ago) the hotel was under renovation and this time we got to enjoy the completeness! The rooms are modern, clean and comfortable yet maintain some of the historic charm. The lobby area is stunning. All the decor details are interesting and beautiful and the lobby was very comfortable for hanging and playing games.

Room tip: Dog friendly, parking available, not soundproof.

I booked a couple of rooms recently The rooms look nice, the staff is great, and the lobby is terrific. They installed refrigerators in the rooms. The bad: I couldn't get them to email the conformation to me, not sure why. You can't book the special rate online - you have to call. They put us in the new section, which is like a maze to get to the elevator. I was woken up several times by the really LOUD heating system. Check in now is a late 4:00.

We booked one of the king boutique rooms on the 3rd floor with the big windows and high ceilings, and were truly impressed. The room assigned provided a wonderful view of the mountains, river, and nearby tourist attractions. It was super comfortable and updated with a nostalgic feel with the old brick wall and older feeling (yet still modern) bathroom.

Arriving by Amtrak, it was super easy to just walk across the street to check in. It feels like a boutique hotel with lots of history preserved to be enjoyed in the lobby areas.

Parking was weird. You could park on the street for free after 5 p.m. according to the check-in desk (signs said 6 p.m.) but it was hard to find a spot and know it was acceptable. We chose instead to pay $20 to park in one of the hotel parking lots, just at the end of the block and across the street. It felt better having the vehicle secured there, and several others did the same thing, but it was a very dark lot after sunset and there were no lights.

It was very easy to walk to restaurants and the Glenwood Hot Springs Pool. The hotel desk sold tickets to the pool and provided towels.

Only stayed one night, but it was a great experience. Would definitely return.

Room tip: Get one of the upgraded rooms on 3rd floor and ask for the best view possible

We had stayed at the Hotel Denver years ago, and did not realize at the time of booking that the Hotel Maxwell Anderson was the same place, rebranded. What a nice facelift! The location is totally convenient, walking distance to the pool and downtown. Check-in was easy, the front desk clerks were friendly and helpful. This was a last minute trip and were trying to make this a budget-friendly stay and chose an inside king room. It was small, but well appointed, comfy and cozy. We get to Glenwood once or twice a year, and this will be our go-to place from now on.

Ours was a mid-week stay, I felt that it was an excellent value, not sure how the prices would be on the weekend.

We were on a Rocky Mountaineer tour from Denver to Moab which stopped in Glenwood Springs. Hotel is right across street from the train depot which was great for an early morning departure. Room (316) was very small as was the bath. Two people could not pass between bed and desk. It is very quaint, wood floor slopes, low water pressure in shower and only soap is hand bar soap. Staff is very friendly and helpful on dinner suggestions.
