This is a paved river trail that that you can walk, jog, roller blade, or bike on. There are benches where you can people watch or look at the beautiful mountains and sky. South of downtown a lot of the hotels and restaurants are right next to the trail.
On a pretty day this is the place to take a stroll.

This trail along the river is just lovely. Walk or bike, run or just stroll, either way, throughly enjoyable and beautiful. Several bridges cross either side of the river and make for some very picturesque scenery.

trail behind Double Tree and Albertsons very littered and appears to be used by homeless as pillows are propped against building walls and clusters of litter near pillows. Really need to do litter control and ensure area is safe and clean

We walked from our lodging into town on the Animas River Trail and we're glad we did. The trail is nice, great views and you see a lot of things you'll miss from the main road. It's a very appealing amenity provided by Durango. Get out and walk or ride a bike for a bit while you're in town.

Stopped by here on the morning we were leaving town and found a lovely delight. It was very peaceful and looked beautiful with the cherry blossom in flower and the water rushing by. Even though there isn't much to do here you really go for the peace and views which are worth the time.
