This theatre sends you back more than a century to slower times. It is small by modern standards which allows you to be close to the performers (we sat in the second row). The acoustics are better than expected for an old, wooden theatre. It is easily found and located on Sutter Creek's Main Street. The variety of performances are intriguing—we were there for classical music! It is walking distance to restaurants and lodging. But note that it is not a restored theatre—it is shabby; the seats, although comfortable enough, are wearing out; it was cold at our performance; parking is a challenge in remote lots or street parking (one reason we walked from our hotel); you hold your breath when anyone walks up the decrepit stairs to the stage. If this is O.K. with you (and the reason for our rating) then go and have a good time like we did!
