Convenient Location - - Very Nice Stay

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 4 Nov 2024
Had a room with 2 Queen beds; (would have preferred a King). Very roomy and quiet. Comfortable with plenty of towels and a "shower cap"! That seems to be something most places, even "higher dollar accommodations" won't provide without requesting same.

Property well maintained; rooms very clean; housekeeping was excellent! Bonus was the vouchers provided by hotel for breakfast at Margie's Diner next door! Worked well for us; didn't have to drive around in search of a decent restaurant! Also they provided a "grab and go" option for those persons wanting just a quick bite.

Nice location; close to downtown Paso with restaurants; wine tasting and some shopping. Probably a great place to stay when the county fair is going.

Overall a very pleasant experience,

Full disclosure: we didn't actually stay at this hotel. We made a reservation and arrived but the room was so dark and depressing that we immediately decided not to stay. Everything in the room was worn out. The ceilings were really low, which made the room seem like a prison cell. The bathroom was old and dirty. The best thing I can say about the hotel is that they gave us a full refund when we decided to leave after a half hour.

Room tip: Don't stay here.

Thank you for taking the time to fill out our guest survey. I am sorry that you were not happy with your guest room. Our award winning hotel prides itself on clean and comfortable rooms and we must have missed the mark for you. It is difficult to raise a ceiling on a guest room that was built in 1983. They are standard height for a guest room. We continually are making improvements to our location and will be addressing that particular building after we finish the expansion of our lobby space. All the decor and finishes were done with professional design services at at the time of selection were deemed appropriate but understand if it did not fit your taste. Again we are sorry for your experience.

Dirty motel room that smelled like cigarettes had stains, but somehow charged $300 a night! We couldn’t even shower due to clogged drains and shower still had soap scum from the last guest. Management said this was acceptable! Disgusting.

Room tip: Avoid this motel!

Thank you for the review. I am not sure how a NASTY hotel could continually be award winning. Yes, there was something on your carpet and the tub looks like it was not rinsed after cleaning. That is most certainly not to our standards and will be addressed. Yes we are an older exterior corridor hotel but strive to provide a clean and comfortable room. Again, I am sorry that we did not meet your expectations.

The lobby of the hotel is undergoing renovation. As a consequence, they did not offer the usual breakfast, but they did offer $5 off at the connected cafe. We did not take them up on this, but went to the Starbucks that's a couple of doors down. This is an older motel but is fairly well maintained. It was generally quiet, although in the parking space outside our door was a man next to his pickup who was extremely drunk or stoned. The room itself, as others have noted, was dark. Overall, the accommodations were adequate for a 2 night stay, but nothing special. Probably would not stay here again as there are better choices in Paso Robles.

This past weekend, our family decided to take a last, little, weekend vacation. Our decision turned out to be an exciting opportunity to relax and discover a little more about our beautiful state.
BestWestern Plus Black Oak in Paso Robles, CA turned out to be a great addition to our adventure. From the very welcoming and friendly staff note to wish us great staff to the cool pool and comfortable beds, staying here made us feel welcome, secure, and wanting to return soon. Thank you very much for your dedication to making sure we had a memorable time.
