This is a fine winery that if you only went for the tasting, you'd be happy with. But take the tour (pre-book!). The history of the area, the beauty of the property is well worth seeing. This will be a 2+hr adventure, but you will be happy to participate! They often will allow you to taste the "wine club member only" wines at the end of the tour...so why not! We will be back soon to enjoy this enchanted property!

Visited by local recommendation. Despite its size and notoriety it is absolutely worth visiting. Did not feel like a larger vinyard. Would have bought a few bottles but will order due to limited space traveling/ shipping.

We had exceptional service and the blended reds were very good.

Also nice picnic grounds and sold some snacks like cheese, crackers, ect.

Worth the trip

This is an enchanted place. An old Victorian home, a covered bridge, a spectacular tasting roo with long cool caves. Not to mention the best of Paso Robles wines with a friendly knowledgeable staff. Tour through the vineyards too

I had read in Sunset magazine a month or so ago about Halter Ranch and their excursion tours. We booked our tour and are very glad we did. It was a very fun way to learn about how vines are grown, and what types of wine do well in Paso Robles. We were given a wonderful tour by Lauren, who was very informed and did her best to answer all of our questions and teach us about Halter Ranch Vineyards. We loved stopping to have a taste of wine on the property. Rose' to overlook the entire property at the highest elevation, and Syrah at the oldest Coastal Oak Tree. It was special. My husband even admitted that he was glad he gave up a day of golf to take the tour. We finished with a private tasting at the members lodge. It was a wonderful tour and day!

Check out this winery now, before it ascends to one of the elite in the region. Their wine maker made Justin what it is today, but now he moved just down the road to this up-and-coming winery. They are building a state-of-the-art new tasting room and are fast becoming one of the must-sees in the area.

Dan's Travel Tip #1: Make sure you try the 2009 Ancestor before it is gone!

Dan's Travel Tip #2: Ask for "T" (Tajin) in the tasting room, he is very courteous, professional, and very knowledgeable.

Enjoy....Aloha!
