Wow. We couldn't have had a nicer stay with our hosts, Linda and Erik. The grounds are beautiful, just as pictured on the site, with lots of lush landscaping and flowers. There were several patio areas with seating, including a pool area complete with a pool table available to guests.
The house itself, and our quarters, reminded me of an English cottage, light and airy and with windows that swing outward. (I wanted to swing them open each morning and sing "Oh What A Beautiful Morning..." but then thought better of it, as we definitely want to back sometime!)
Once inside the home, we were greeted with a chalkboard sign welcoming us by name. There were fresh cut flowers in the kitchen as well as our bath and apartment. Our quarters were on the second floor and included a nice bright bedroom (with a comfortable queen bed, full dresser and nightstand) and an adjoining room with a very comfortable couch (makes into sleeper), nice writing desk, a good-sized TV, and closet. While the bathroom wasn't an ensuite, it was just a few steps from our quarters. It included a good-sized shower, generous counter space with two sinks, and plenty of drawer space. They even had an assortment of toiletries available there in case we'd forgotten something.
Linda and Erik could not have been lovelier or more hospitable, thoughtful and accommodating in every way. For our use, they had cleared an entire shelf in the fridge and a large area in the pantry, and there was an "overflow" fridge located on the patio just outside the kitchen. They spend most of their time in a separate wing of the house on the main floor and we felt like we had plenty of privacy when we wanted it, and enjoyable company when we crossed paths with them.
We came over Memorial Day weekend 2018 for our son's graduation. Being from Texas where it had already hit 100 degrees, we thoroughly enjoyed the cooler weather and made good use of our windows and outdoor sitting areas. Instead of feeling like we were imposing when our son visited, they were welcoming and showed a genuine interest in him.
We really can't thank Linda and Erik for such a delightful stay. We definitely hope to stay with them again.
We felt very welcome in this beautiful, idyllic and quiet vacation home. Very bright and clean rooms with splendid views into the nature all around the house despite being in a short driving distance to S.F, Berkeley, Oakland and so on ....
Linda and Erik are very helpful and exceptional hosts who turned out to be friends....
We enjoyed our stay and we will definitely come back for a visit should we be in this area again...
Thank you Linda, thank you Erik
My husband and I spent a satisfying month at this beautiful home in Orinda. Linda and Erik were helpful but unobtrusive hosts, giving us lots of tips about activities and places to visit, best restaurants in town... and even a good movie to go to locally.
The accommodations were spacious and clean, and filled with light in the living room, where we also found an abundance of good reading. Most importantly for us, the internet connection was reliable and quite fast. We would highly recommend this property for anyone w
ho wants to be centrally located in the East Bay, but who also values their privacy.
I felt extremely welcome and the hosts became my friends instantly! I was starved when I came in the first night and Linda gave me a beautiful bowl of fruit. I felt free to come and go and yet Linda and Erik were always there for me.
Hosts have a beautiful house in suburb of Orinda, a short commute to San Francisco, Oakland or Berkeley
