So disappointed.

2.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 25 Jul 2024

What a disappointment. I am stuck here for a conference. If I could, I would check out in the morning.

1. The layout is just weird. Yes, the lobby is pretty, but navigating the maze of elevators, staircases and escalators is frustrating and time-consuming. To get to the pool, for example, you have to take the elevator to one floor and then take the stairs to the pool deck. To get to my meeting room, same process. This place was built in the 1970's and is a perfect example of self-conscious 70's architecture which only serves the architect's ego, not the guest.

2. Room is awful. I am so glad that another reviewer mentioned the smell of smoke. I have had an allergic reaction since the moment I checked in. I assumed it was from the nasty carpet, but tonight I definitely caught a whiff of cigarette smoke, which seemed to be coming in through the AC vent. At least there is an overpriced store in the lobby where I could buy allergy meds.

3. Bed is so-so. Definitely NOT the fabled Westin mattress that I have previously experienced at a different Westin property and that I was looking forward to.

4. I had asked for an ADA accessible room. Didn't get it. To take a shower, I have to climb into a tub. At least it has a grab bar. Whoopy.

5. Bathroom is tiny with an awkwardly placed corner sink and no ventilation.

6. Noise. At 1:30 a.m., I can still hear the laughing and screaming and door banging of multiple male guests in a room down the hall (and wandering through the hall). Maybe management can't be responsible for its guests, but if the room had any semblance of sound-proofing, it wouldn't be an issue. After an hour or two of escalating noise, I tried to call the front desk, but the phone doesn't work. I was about to use my phone when the last screaming guest finally left.

If my conference is held here again next year, I will either not attend or will seek accomodations elsewhere.

On the plus side, the staff are very friendly and helpful. I wish i could take them with me to another hotel.

Disappointing for a Westin establishment.

Couldn’t find my booking during check in even though I prepaid 4 nights stay via Agoda. Eventually found my booking after close to 45mins and they gave me complimentary breakfast for the long wait.

Room’s safe is faulty and couldn’t get a replacement or repair. Rooms are outdated and could use a renovation.

Room service didn’t provide new towels and restock the facial Kleenex tissues. Only sent up to room after request. Room service missed my room cleaning for a day and they couldn’t send anyone up as all the room cleaning staff are done for the day.

Location is a distance away from the nearest metro station.

Beds and pillows are very comfortable to rest in, one of the best we have ever slept on in a hotel.

On the last day, hot water for showering is inconsistent even after 8hrs servicing. Room cleaning also didn’t top up shower gel and shampoo. Really disappointing.

Hotel entrance and lobby area is grand. It’s also iconic and for those of you old enough the film true lies Arnold shwarzenegar was filmed here. There is a bar located in the centre.

The location is good if you’re looking to stay somewhere in downtown. There is a convenience store 2 blocks down around 10 mins. There is also a 7/11 however this is a little over 15-20 min walk.

The hotel is huge. The rooms and floors are located in different towers. All floors have free ice machines located in the centre of the floor. The beds are comfy and we got a good nights sleep no issue here. The bathroom is a decent size with a tub.

The breakfast has a good choice and you can request a delicious eggs Benedict included.

We want to thank Rosemary one of the duty managers as we had an issue but she quickly resolved this. She listened and provided a stellar service. I want to extend our gratitude to her meeting all our needs during our stay. She is a real asset to this company.

Room tip: Valet parking is an additional charge and costs approximately 70usd daily charge.

I stayed here for one night while in DTLA seeing a comedian as part of the Netflix Is A Joke festival. The front desk and valet personnel were very friendly. The hotel itself is old and the rooms are in major need of remodeling. The room I was in had the smell of old smoke. The carpet and furniture was dark colored which made the room seem dark. I would not stay at this hotel again.

Stayed here Saturday night. Had booked using points. We have some 'status' here and I had noticed prices dropping a bit towards arrival date, so I asked at the desk if any upgrades were possible. When we got to our room, we immediately noticed THERE WAS NO BED! But one more step showed another room to the right, with a nice King Sized Bed, we had been given a suite. It was nice to be able to spread out and have extra windows (highway view, but it was still nice), and 2 bathrooms and 2 TVs.

Bed was comfy, room was pretty quiet, even though we were only on the 15th floor. Furnishings are a bit tired, room looked like it hadn't been updated in a couple decades.

Lobby is pretty, with water features and the glass elevators. SO many of the shops and restaurants are either permanently closed or were closed for events, I'm not sure we could have had dinner on site other than at the little lobby cafe as nothing else was available. We did leave the property for dinner, it's really hard to figure out how to cross Flower Street to get to the museums and shopping on Grand street, and that area. We walked a very long way around Hope Street as we couldn't find access to the overpasses (we did figure it out on the way back).

Pool is pretty (no hottub) but is a short walk along an exposed plaza to reach, which might not be great on a cooler or windy day.

Platinum breakfast is listed as Continental, but it's a full buffet that was above average.

I’ve always liked the Bonaventure primarily for its unique architecture, spacious rooms, and views of downtown LA. On our current stay we discovered that overstuffed, hard foam pillows are the only pillow option available to guests, even though the Marriott app still lists feather pillows as an option.

Hello sleepless nights and neck aches!

When I asked for feather pillows the answer was that the foam pillows are the only choice. And that was the end of it. It’s the second Marriott property where this happened this year, and will make me rethink staying with them, and I’m a lifetime platinum guest.
