“What a gem!!”

This place is wonderful! It is clean, spacious, original, unique, great garden and the views are to die for! And then there's Tanya! She is such a treasure. She left so many little extras and the stuff she left in the fridge to get us started, was just about enough to get us through breakfast for the entire week. She was so quick to respond to any questions, even dumb ones about routes. She was so very kind when we came home very late one night, put our stuff down and decided to go up and take pics.....we locked ourselves out!
If you have the opportunity to stay here, do it!!! It's easy to get around the entire area and it's like an oasis in the middle of LA chaos! Thank you Tanya!!

“Head to the Hills (Hollywood Hills that is)”
Reviewed 27 April 2017 for a stay in April 2017

This is truly a delightful rental. Loads of room and a view most only dream about. My girlfriend and I were in LA visiting our adult children and found the apartment to fully meet our needs. Our children loved it and both said "Rent this place again PLEASE!"

Tanya, the owner, really pays attention to the details. She had stocked the kitchen with milk, eggs, juice, bread and cereal to get us started in the mornings. Most rentals don't have that extra touch. Flowers in the rooms - it felt like home very quickly.

The outside space is very special from the patio to the upper deck with an unencumbered view of the LA skyline. We spent several evenings and one afternoon lounging outside on the patio. Great space for conversation and picture taking.

The location is great - LYFT and UBER drivers found us just fine - we got to every place we needed to go. Let's face it no matter where you stay in LA the traffic stinks so stay in a place you can relax and enjoy when you aren't trying to get somewhere.

Too true re the traffic.
Glad you had such a relaxing time at the house, and that your kids loved it too!
They are right, you should come back again soon.

“Warm welcome, amazing views, charming house, conveniently located”

If you’re trying to decide if this place is the one to rent, just stop searching now and hit “book.” We’ve stayed in a number of vacation rentals and this one was by far the best.

The welcome makes you feel instantly at home. There were flowers in every room, a bottle of California wine, a pre-stocked fridge with milk, eggs, fruit, and crumpets so you don’t need to hit the nearby grocery store right away. The owner, Tanya, was responsive within minutes if we had any questions. She may be a professional writer but Tanya is a natural at hospitality.

The house itself is pure vintage Old Hollywood in its glamour days. Patrick Swayze may have lived downstairs, but you wouldn’t be surprised if Gloria Swanson, Cary Grant, or Grace Kelly had hidden out here. The old fixtures have been lovingly restored or updated without losing any charm, but there are modern necessities everywhere, like reliable wifi, a dishwasher, and every kitchen pot, pan, spice, or tool you could want.

The view is spectacular. We’d wake up in the middle of the night just to stand and gape at the city lights. The living room, roof deck and patio are great spaces to relax, read, and sip a drink or just watch the city doing its thing, but if you do decide to hit the sights, you are a quick walk down to major attractions (be aware it’s a serious hike back up, though!). We walked to the Hollywood Bowl, Grumman’s Chinese Theater on Hollywood Blvd., and Sunset Blvd. among other places. A short drive away is Warner Brothers studio, Universal, and Griffith Park Observatory.

If you’re going to LA, this house is conveniently located, loaded with charm and extras, and has a responsive and friendly host. We can’t recommend it highly enough, and if/when we go back to LA, we’re definitely staying here again.

“Location, Location, Style”

If you want to have a great view of the valley, be able to walk to hollyweird or the hollywood bowl, be 5 min from Universal Studios, and pay the same or less than a hotel (and have 2 bdrm, 2 bath), then stop here and rent this place!

Tanya is a great host, caring and available. The place feels like old school Hollywood, and you can still smell Patrick Swayze, who lived there before he was famous!

There's a nice kitchen, all the appliances you need, a nice outdoor area to relax or bbq, but you can walk to many places to eat or order in as well.

If it's super hot the A/C will struggle a bit in the late afternoon, but cool down for the evening. Worth it, tho, to have the great view.

“A beautiful and relaxing place to stay!”
Reviewed 25 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

This was our first experience of booking a holiday let through TripAdvisor, and to start with we were a little apprehensive. But from our initial contact with Tanya, we didn't have to worry! Her messages were very friendly and helpful, and the whole process was so easy and well explained.

We initially looked at hotels in Hollywood, but found them very expensive for what they were offering. We wanted somewhere relaxing to stay after a long flight from the UK with a bit of space, and location, location, location certainly ticked all the boxes.

The house itself is stunning, and photo's do not do it justice. Everything has been so well thought out, even down to a fully stocked kitchen and fresh milk and eggs etc to get you started. The views from the two front rooms are stunning, and sitting watching the twinkling lights of LA on a night was a treat in itself.

The off street parking was a real plus, and with a little help from Tanya we got parked no problem, even though we had hired the largest car I've ever seen! The house is a ten minute walk from all the Hollywood sights, which is another plus. It is at the top of a fairly steep hill, but it was good for burning off some of the food we had been eating though.

All in all, I can't recommend this house enough. It was a great start to our road trip, and set the bar so high for the rest of our trip that only a couple of places came close to matching it. The only downside was not having more nights there to enjoy it!

Thanks again Tanya!
