We stayed at 2Brooks for 4 nights for Christmas 2016. We had 6 people (4 adults, 2 kids under 4yrs). The cabin is walking distance from the town of Idyllwild. Although it’s close to town, you still have a secluded feeling because of all the beautiful trees surrounding the cabin. The cabin itself is very nice with big windows all around. It has a spacious kitchen with all the necessary cooking equipment. We cooked almost all meals here. There is also a large dining room table. There is a very large master bedroom downstairs with a full bathroom and walk-in closet. The bedroom has lots of windows with a window seat to enjoy the beautiful view. The upstairs is an open loft area with a queen bed, desk and pull-out couch. There is also a downstairs studio with a bathroom and separate entrance. We originally intended to use this as a bedroom but found it too cold and separated from the main house so we ended up using the living room couch as another sleeping area. This worked out fine for our family. The first night after we arrived it snowed about 6-8 inches! It was very beautiful and made for lots of fun for the kids (and adults!). The heater and fireplace kept the cabin nice and warm. The owners arranged to have the driveway and stairs shoveled after the snow which was very much appreciated!
The cabin was thoroughly enjoyed by all of us. We would definitely consider staying here again in the future and would recommend 2Brooks to our family and friends. Thank you so much Kelly for sharing your beautiful cabin with us!
My wife and I have rented 2Brooks several times when we've stayed in Idyllwild. It's a delightful house that's solid in every aspect. Some places have a good kitchen but a cramped living room, or a good living room and worn out mattresses, but this place is completely solid in all ways. That's why it's one of our favorite rentals and we keep going back. It's also walking distance to town, which is a big plus, and yet the ad is telling the truth when it says that you wake up seeing the trees all around you.
I had a look at the online pictures and they're accurate. One thing to know is that wide-angle lenses always make places look a little more spacious than they really are, so you can expect 2Brooks to bit a little more cozy than you see in the pictures. Another thing to note is that the 3rd bedroom is not connected to the main house and you have to enter from an outside sliding door. (It's a single room with a toilet in the room area itself -- you can see that in the pictures.) You'll probably want to use the two main rooms and then use the third room only if you can't fit everyone in the main house.
If you need a *huge* TV then this place probably isn't for you -- it's got a regular-sized TV, one that's perfectly fine but not enormous. The wifi works well. For my wife and me, some of the standout features are: waking up in the main bedroom and looking up at the high windows and seeing the trees, the nice well-stocked kitchen, the big dining room table for playing games and having meals with friends, and the great back porch.
When my wife and I stayed there previously, we had a chance to talk to the owners. They're really nice people and I could tell they're dedicated to making sure that people have a great time when they rent the house. I feel like I'm in good hands with them.
