We booked the Houston Camp back in November, not knowing what kind of winter we’d be getting. One of the strongest storms of the season hit days before we were scheduled to arrive, and almost kept us from getting to any of 4 charming and well-appointed cabins. The drive was cleared. The paths and decks were not. A slightly panicked phone message got an immediate response from the courteous staff, who somehow rounded up a small crew of shovelers to get us inside.
Our party of 8 had an incredible 4 night stay. I figured somehow that the place would not be as nice as the photos. It was. Really cozy, with wonderful furnishings throughout. Everyone came away remarking that the beds were so very comfortable. We love to cook. The kitchen was well equipped and quite workable. It has the sharpest knives of any rental I’ve experienced.
We enjoyed our meals, our drinks, our music streaming through the Polk Audio sound system, fireside games, naps, and family time after we snowshoed, hiked, and skied. It made for a perfect Winter Getaway.
