We went for lunch as part of a walkers group. The publican was happy to open early for us (9.30am) so we could use the toilets before setting off on our walk, and also pre-order our lunches. When we were there, they were just about to change from winter to summer menu, so a few things weren’t available, but there was still plenty of choice on both the printed menu and the specials board. Prices reasonable, with plenty of items at the £6.50-£7.00 end, and some of the specials coming in at about £12-£13.
I had the salmon with jacket potato and salad which was delicious, and my husband had the skate wing with veg and new potatoes, which he said was probably the best one he’s had.
Although it was May, it was a cold day, and the log burner was roaring away, making it a very welcoming atmosphere. A good range of beers available.
All-in-all, very good value, lovely, welcoming, friendly pub, and we will definitely be going back.
