My wife and I stayed in the Santa Fe room over the weekend. For the most part, we had a good stay but I feel the need to let others know what they can and can't expect. I realize that other reviewers have already mentioned most of these topics.

We spoke with two employees who were both nice. The only problem we had, like others, was not receiving the 5% cash discount.

Breakfast was next door at a Mexican restaurant. The one member of the wait staff was very nice. Limited choices, but I liked the food.

The noise was no worse than any other hotel. I always take ear plugs so I got a good night's sleep.

The room was huge. Two bedrooms and bathrooms plus a sitting area.

The main problem we had was that the room was in dire need of a thorough cleaning and maintenance. There were huge spots on the carpet and couch. Dust had collected to the point that it was no longer dust but rather dirt. The wallpaper was peeling off the walls. There were lots of furniture scratches on the walls and a nice hole in the comforter. A few hours of scrubbing, along with some wallpaper paste and paint could get this room back in shape.

Not sure if we would return for another visit.

Room tip: Try to check in before 6:00 PM unless you call ahead to make sure someone will be at the desk when you arrive.

Lovely little inn. Beautiful room, we stayed in the Winchester. Quiet, quiet quiet! Breakfast was next door at the Mexican restaurant, and while it didn’t open until 8:30 am, we grabbed a cup of coffee from the lobby and went for a walk around the neighborhood. Breakfast was buffet-style, plenty of food, scrambled eggs, scrambled eggs with chorizo, bacon, sausage, pancakes (which were amazing!) fresh orange juice and coffee. The only reason I didn’t give this an excellent rating was the quality of the bed- hard and lumpy, the pillows-very worn and flat, and the carpet had some pretty obvious stains. The towels were clean and fluffy, the place was freshly dusted and neat, and the views are to die for!! Oh, and appreciated the snacks and drinks in the fridge when we came in late!! We did enjoy our stay and would recommend the Baywood Inn to our friends! We hope to return someday!

Beautifully decorated room with a few issues: long walk from parking to my room up a flight of stairs to my room. Coffee but no creamer, Daily room make over has to be requested but no trash emptied, no fresh towels, only the bed made. Would have been a pretty view of the bay but the windows were dirty.
Next visit I’ll stay in Morro Bay.

We have stayed in Baywood Park on a regular basis for the past twelve years and decided to bring our family and talked about what a fantastic place we were going to. Wonderful surroundings, yes, wonderful people, yes, wonderful food, yes! Wonderful stay, almost. The three rooms we booked were spacious, well stocked, and decorated with a relaxing, nautical theme. The negative issues that we experienced were related to the service and horrible attitude we experienced with the innkeeper. We were told repeatedly that the innkeeper had a family emergency which we sympathize with completely. However, as a business owner, it seems as though you should have a plan in place to maintain some services that customers pay for and are advertised on the website. For example, sorry we don't have wine for the afternoon reception because I'm an employee and have to pay for wine out of my own pocket. Sorry, no regular coffee for you coffee maker, only decaf. The breakfast that was included shifted locations and types a few times because of the holiday on the 4th. That was fine.

Finally, we wanted to check out and settle our bills but were told to just leave our keys. We had wanted to purchase a gift certificate for next time and make sure our 3 rooms with separate credit cards worked out. As a courtesy, we stayed behind to work things out but the owner was quite rude, next time when we spend over $1,400 in one hotel, it will definitely be the Back Bay Inn again. Don't stay here unless you like to be treated as if you had crawled in from the bay and we're soiling the premises.

Room tip: Even though it was a holiday long weekend, the area was still uncrowded and pristine.

Over the years we have stayed several times at the Baywood Inn B&B but our stay last week was just not good. During our entire stay there was no person at the front desk. There was no breakfast (the two adjacent associated restaurants were closed). There was no five percent discount for paying cash for our room. There was no wine tasting at 5pm. The heater in our room didn't work and the igniter for the fire place was out of fuel.
We left phone messages and emails to discuss these problems and no response a week later. And now the contact phone number is disconnected. We wonder if the inn is still in business.
