“Great place to relax in”

I stayed here with two teenagers in the winter. We had great weather (for Feb!) and the girls appreciated somewhere they could chill out with a room each, the choice of a bath and shower, and shops (food and souvenirs) within walking distance. The post office in Patterdale was a favourite.
The kitchen is really well equipped, the fire was lit for us each evening and we enjoyed the lovely views over the hills at sunset (didn't see sunrise!). It is a quiet and safe spot off the main road with enclosed garden.
Christine and John were really welcoming, full of advice of where to visit and we have plans to return!! There are loads of lovely looking walks, the steamer is very close and Glenridding is easy driving to Keswick and Ambleside/Windermere.

It was lovely to see you all and to know that you enjoyed your stay. Lower Grisedale Lodge is certainly spacious so hopefully you could escape the teenagers when you needed to and relax in the conservatory!

Looking forward to seeing you all again.

“Comfortable, cosy, convenient....”

A great welcome awaited us,even though it was late in the evening. The fire was lit, there was milk in the fridge and a plate of biscuits for the kids, a great start. The lodge is conveniently positioned for the Ullswater Steamer Boat, nearby pubs and restaurants. There are great walks from the door. The owners have thought of every detail so the lodge is very well equipped. We self catered and found the kitchen had everything we needed. There are guide books, novels, games, puzzles and DVD's, the WIFI is high speed so great for teenagers. Penrith is the nearest large town with supermarkets, cinema and great independent shops and cafes.
A super property in a beautiful setting, recommended.

Stayed at the lodge for a week in July with family. It was beautiful, comfortable and very, very relaxing. It is ideally suited for walking in the area and the has plenty of maps and guides. The conservatory was a real added bonus. Would love to go back.

“Fantastic find, cozy and comfortable. A home away from home”

A lovely place to stay. Really spacious with large rooms and fabulously well equipped. The owners have thought of all sorts of additions to make the stay. Books and magazines as well little touches like a torch to help find our way back from the nearby pub. The kitchen has everything you need and much better equipped than I have at home. The bathroom looks new and is great as it has a separate shower. Lovely real fire that was already lit when we arrived.
The location is fantastic for walks and even a few runs. Good places to eat nearby, although we didn't do this as often as intended, as the cottage was such a lovely place it was nice to stay in.

We have just returned from yet another enjoyable and relaxing trip to the Lakes and lower Grisedale Lodge. As always, Christine and John made us really welcome. Normally we visit in the summer, so it was good to see the cottage and the Lakes in the winter - although it was warm inside the cottage, the coal fire was a bonus, making the place really cosy.
If you haven't been to Lower Grisedale Lodge I can recommend it; it's spacious, well appointed and quiet. This year the bathroom has been refurbished making it really bright and modern. Shame the mirrored tiles had to go!!
We will be back in July and are looking forwards to it.
