What a lovely cottage. Nice and cosy and very warm even on the snowy winter nights. The thoughtful extras were much appreciated. Amazing views from all windows and in a simply stunning location. Glenridding was about a ten minute walk and the Beckside Bar there was lovely.
Very comfortable bed and our doggie was much appreciative of the garden. We got stuck trying to get up the track to the cottage the really snowy night but thankfully the helpfully located grit bins enabled us to sort this.
We will definitely return whenever in the Lake District.
Thank you Emma and Rob (and Morgan was adorable!)
No heating on arrival in late November! It took two days to warm the cottage up. Not very helpful host who rushed us in on arrival and rushed us out on departure.
However, cottage is lovely and in a great position.
Comfortable, inviting cottage with every convenience & provision needed and spectacular views. We walked everywhere, local shops, pub and of course Striding Edge & Helvellyn.
Thoroughly recommended and dealing with the owners is a delight.
We hope to return soon.
This was our first time to the lakes and we came across these lovely little cottages. We chose to stay in Cottage 2 as the garden was a surplus to us and we absolutely adored the place. We were pleasantly surprised by the thoughtful warm welcome of wine, milk and eggs.
The cottages rest in a perfect location for trails leading up to Helvellyn and neighbouring peaks, with traditional pubs nearby this really made our stay feel more cosy especially after a long day walking!
Our weekend past so quickly it was a shame that we couldn't stay longer, although we are definitely planning a second trip for next year!
A massive thank you to Emma and Rob for hosting us in their cottages, they were very friendly even though we only met them to pick up and drop of the keys!
We would definitely recommend this place to other people as it really made us feel at home in the lakes and was great value too.
This cottage was great for us as walkers, we often went out without using the car which was lovely. The kitchen was well equipped and my Hubby was the in-house dishwasher so I didn't miss mine ;o) It was great to have use of a garden, not always possible in a holiday cottage.
If I had to give constructive and honest feedback it would be that the 2 settees were both uncomfortable where the springs had visibly gone, not really fit for use any more. To be fair, it wasn't something we raised during our stay; we didn't feel it was reasonable to expect it to be resolved in a week and we also felt it was hopefully obvious and already in hand.
