We stayed for two nights at the Maharani suite and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The suite itself is grand and a delight, but the location of Sheesh Mahal is priceless! Located in the heart of the complex of gorgeous palaces and crumbling ruins, and a minute away from the location of the sound and light show held every evening, this hotel was a gem! The restaurant was unimpressive, though - standard fare for a government run hotel. But its location is just perfect! Highly recommended!

Room Tip: The Maharaja and Maharani suites are the best. And reasonably priced!

we only stayed for one night unfortunately, so we did not get to enjoy the whole experience, but we book the Maharani suite and it was fantastic! of course you are in a Heritage setting so don't expect modernities, however the room was amazing and the bathtub something to wonder over.. can't wait to go back!!

Let me start the review with a warning, especially for the benefit of foreign tourists- please don't get conned by online sites displaying this property in their listing. Sheesh Mahal belongs to MP tourism and they do not recognise any of the bookings made through these agents. I learnt this the hard way!
It's a decent property to experience living in a mahal but be aware that it does not offer any kind of luxury! Prefer rooms inside than outside lest you get a feeling that you are in security guard's room. Food is decent and the place can be enjoyable for one evening. Mpstdc properties are one of the better lots amongst the state tourism hotels. However, their slogan 'atithi devo bhava!' is a tall claim.

If you're looking for history, look no further. This hotel is part of Orchha Fort, so you're in the perfect location to explore both the fort itself and the historical surroundings, including walking through the archaeological remains within the fort's outer walls, down to the river, from where there are great views of the Chhatris Cenotaphs. We stayed in the Maharaja Suite, which was spacious and grand, but our children were in a little twin room, which was small and airless. If they were writing this review, they would probably give the hotel just one or two stars, so it's worth splashing out on the suite. Otherwise, the service is ordinary and the food in the restaurant is poor, but this hotel is all about the location, not the infrastructure.

Room Tip: Stay in the Maharaja Suite. It's worth the extra cost.

We stayed here while for 2 nights. Property is managed by the government but only 8 rooms are operational. Comfortable rooms. Great service & good food.
Sound & light show is also available everyday. You need to walk a lot for Swimming pool.

Room Tip: Avoid taking roof top room as monkeys jump a lot
