Reach there at 4 pm. Before that it is too hot for bears to be out and about! We managed to see several bears from the (very tall) observation tower. Best was a cub that the staff have been looking for a few days appeared sitting on its mom's back and enjoying the ride! It was an adorable sight!

Sloth Bears are native to Indian Subcontinent, so you won't find them anywhere else on the planet. This bear sanctuary was about 16 kms from our hotel in Kamalapur so we decided to book an auto for roundtrip which cost us 900 rupees. The place opens only from 2pm to 6pm. At the entry you are charged 25 rupees fee for every adult and also if you have a car or taxi its 500 rupees fee for the vehicle. For auto its free. It's a 4 km drive to the main watch tower from where the view is amazing and you can see the sloth bears from quite some distance. It would be nice if they would rent binoculars. The place closes at 6pm.

A good sanctuary with a great potential for growth. While the park may not have much of animal life now but it has a lot of potential for growth. Apart from sloth bears which we saw thanks to the feeding sessions, which more or less guarantees sightings, we also got to see foxes, hares and a variety of birds. Being a jungle enthusiast it was worth our while just being in a jungle with a different type of terrain. We had a good time and also a great guide in Mr.Mahesh from Jungle Lodges to see us through. A wonderful experience.

The place is only open from 2 to 6 PM.... check timings on the website. The entry costs Rs. 500 per car, plus Rs. 25 per adult. There's a drive for about 4 kms from the entry on an unpaved road. This takes one to the base of the watch tower, and then it's a climb to the top. The bears are a long distance away - binoculars would help, but we could see around 10 bears even without them. A good outing, especially with kids.

You need a car or vehicle to visit the Bear Sanctuary. At the end of the road you arrived to the watch tower and you can see the bears coming outside of the caves in the rocks and enjoy a beautiful sunset. Binoculars would be very helpful, I wish they could provide or rent binoculars. And by the way, even if you don't see the bears you have to leave by 6pm, be careful when you leave because once the bears come outside, big 4x4 cars from hotels come very quickly to see the bears and they drive like crazy, so if you are driving back, be careful with these crazy car drivers!
