Beautifully appointed and comfortable cottage: the drinks 'on the house', tablet and homemade fruit loaf were extra treats provided by Ali who has made every effort to make a wonderful place as a base for the Fife coast, St Andrews and the Lomond hills . Tranquil yet a stone's throw from the seafront and walks in both directions along the coastal path.
The wood burner and courtyard garden were particularly appreciated by our dog who enjoyed the sun trap by day together with the stove in the evenings lolling in the wicker bed provided.
Host and house warmly recommended.
A wonderful experience from beginning to end. The on-line booking process could not have been easier. As was getting there, in part at least as a result of Alison providing detailed directions by email. She also kindly provided a wealth of information about the village and surrounding area. The accommodation itself more than lived up to expectation, proving to be even more charming than the photos suggested.
All in all an ideal location for anyone wishing to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday living yet remain with easy driving distance of the towns and villages of Fife.
We spent five wonderful days over the Easter holidays with our three children. The cottage was perfect and Alison had it lit, warm and welcoming along with a fabulous gift of Easter chocolates and shortbread on arrival. Location is perfect for a quiet get away, less than a minute from the beach and access to Fife Coastal paths. Despite being there through gales, snow and plenty of rain we still managed to have walks around the village and harbour. Lots to do throughout Fife, and we visited the Secret Bunker which the children loved. The cottage had plenty of rainy day options with a fabulous selection of games and books. We will definitely be back when the weather is better!
Wow! What an amazing place. The village itself was quaint & charming with a long beach just on the doorstep. We spent a few nights in Alison's beautiful home & it wasn't nearly enough!
We felt spoilt from the moment we arrived. Alison had left whisky & fruit cake for us, the stove (which was stunning in the evening) had been laid ready for us, lovely toiletries & beautifully ironed bedding. The house was spotless & stylish but at the same time cosy with board games, jigsaws & really good selection of holiday reading. It was fully equipped with everything we needed & we couldn't have asked for more. We definitely need to come back for longer!
We booked 'Number 55' for short break over the Easter weekend for two couples and had a lovely time in this comfortable, stylish and perfectly equipped cottage.
We arrived late in the evening and were pleased to find the place well-lit and warm in readiness for us. Alison, the owner, had left us a pack of Easter goodies as well as some other treats and essentials.
The cottage is very comfortable in every respect. It's easy to keep warm either with the central heating or with the wonderful log-burner, which is great on a chilly evening (and so easy to light and regulate, too).
The kitchen, though small, is excellently equipped and we had no difficulty doing a full Sunday lunch.
West Wemyss is not a tourist destination in itself so it's lovely and quiet. The sea is less than a minute away. The coastal footpath, which runs both east and west from here, provides the opportunity for a gentle stroll or a longer walk.
Further afield, there are pretty harbours and villages to the east, St Andrews about 40 minutes to the north east and plenty of supermarkets within easy reach by car for the daily essentials.
This is a lovely cottage in every respect.
