Really nice

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 11 Nov 2024via mobile
We were staying in Barmouth as we were attending a wedding & asked if we could book early to allow us to freshen up & they didn’t hesitate to help us. The room was clean, nice sea view & most importantly a comfortable bed!
The breakfast was plentiful & really nice.
Wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.

Tyr Graig Castle is not a hipster, trendy boutique hotel - it's much, much better than that! It's quirky, with an interesting history, it's friendly and very comfortable.
Our bedroom and bathroom were spotlessly clean, the bed was very comfortable and there is plenty of storage space. We stayed in the Turret room, with its round walls and a fabulous sea view.
The owners are lovely, always cheerful, polite and helpful offering us lots of useful local information. Restaurant staff equally nice and efficient, the restaurant provides good food at reasonable prices. The menu is varied, but perhaps a daily special might have added interest for those staying longer than a day or two. Breakfasts are delicious and generous.
The hotel is well within walking distance of the town and beach if you can cope with a bit of a hill after that indulgent breakfast!
Overall we had a very enjoyable stay and would certainly book again.

Room tip: Book the Turret room with the sea view, well worth the few extra £s!

Just returned from a beautiful weekend at Tyr Castle. The moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome and comfortable. The owners are so friendly and go out of their way to assist you. The views from the castle were amazing and so was the breakfast.
Loved our stay and will definitely be returning. Thank for lovely time.

Lovely area - good walks. We probably didn't check online photos too well - thought the hotel was by the sea but it's actually quite a distance from water. Lovely view from the terrace and restaurant - very nice for sunset drinks, weather permitting. Clean and comfortable room. Very small bathroom. Would be good for the hotel to be able to provide more information on the area, particularly walks, hikes...

We stayed for two nights in the Premium Turret room. It was clean, comfortable and spacious enough for the two of us. The en-suite has a bath and a shower in one which was very nice.

We were incredibly impressed with the afternoon tea. There's nothing like eating cake and drinking tea whilst watching the waves. The staff treated us very well and nothing was too much for them. Even though we couldn't finish all of our afternoon tea, they kindly packed the remaining cakes up for us and stored them in the fridge for us to enjoy the next day, which we did.

We ate at the hotel for one of the nights and were pleased with our meal. Breakfast was also very nice, good selection.

We would definitely stay here again. Thank you for having us!
