Review of Min-y-mor Hotel
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 25 Aug 2024via mobile
We managed to book 2 nights at the Min y Mor after phoning several hotels suitable for dogs. We wanted 2 double rooms for single occupancy with a small rescue dog. Apparently the big sea view rooms are booked well in advance. Jane on reception was really helpful in answering queries. We had rooms 6 and 7 on the first floor, room 6 having a side sea view and a walk in shower, where 7 had a bath with shower over, and although there was a window, there was film over it so there was no view at all.
That aside, the beds were comfortable, with clean white bedding, white towels and toiletries,tv,kettle ,with mugs, milk ,sugar, tea and coffee and biscuits.
It classes itself as a dog friendly hotel, and it certainly is. The number of repeat guests and their 4 legged friends was proof of this. As dogs aren’t allowed in the dining room, we had our meals in the bar which was good. The breakfast was good, fruit juice, cereals, toast, full Welsh breakfast, tea and coffee., Evening meals were good as well .
Sadly whilst we were there, we had heavy rain, and strong winds, which was a shame as the outside of the hotel caters well for outdoor eating and drinking, and water for the dogs. The beach is just over the road, but it was quite wild. We managed to get out of the wind and walked to the country park Wern Mynach (at the back of the hotel , over the railway line, and next to the football field).
There is a lounge with leather settees, which we went into once, but this lacked atmosphere and it didn’t seem to be used.
We would go to the Min y Mor again but would want to book good weather as well!

Just back from a few days. Although we didn't have dogs with us cannot highly recommend this place for a holiday with your dogs. Everything is set up for a lovely holiday with your dog being so welcomed. Very clean, really good food especially the breakfast which if you book direct with the hotel (I would recommend that) is included in your room price. Looking forward to another stay soon

Stayed here three nights August 12-15 . The hotel is in a great location overlooking the beach with a lovely beer garden. Has a large free car park. The breakfast was really great with lot of variety, very quick service and excellent produce used. The bar is very good with a selection of real ales and wines.
All the staff were very friendly. Didn’t get all their names but call out to Sarah, Jackie and Nicola. And to the gentleman who served in the bar and also when we retrieved our key from behind the reception, checked our names- thank you for this security check.
Our room was well laid out, clean and serviced. The shower room was lovely. Especially loved the large light up mirror. Only small details - there was nowhere to hang towels so had to tuck into the large spacious built in drawers underneath the sink and the curtains could do with fitting better.
We were very lucky with great weather so we were able to make the most of Barmouth’s walks and amazing beach and the Min y Mor was a perfect base, only 10 min walk from Barmouth.

Went to this hotel for 2 nights and I booked this weekend few months ago to be told we got sea view . We get to the room which was small . The window was all frosted glass so couldn’t see through it. Had to get on the bed to open top part of window . Bathroom very old and dirty looking . Very dusty needs cleaning . Took pictures when I complained but staff not interested used excuse couldn’t clean because our belongings were in the room . Breakfast was ok . Evening menu was terrible ordered a meal and it came very quick but microwave chips only ate scampi asked for mushy peas got garden peas . Suppost to be 4 star couldnt tell the difference with who staff were . They were not dressed tidy considering 4 star hotel . They knocked £20 of the bill because of everything but tbf paying over £200 is bad as to put someone in a room no air con can’t see out the window is disgusting. I asked for a fan which they gave me . No hair dryer in the room . More of a view looking out the bathroom window . It’ needs a fresh look very dated and old fashioned . Got pics of the room showing it’s not bn cleaned well before we got there . Outside seating needs sorting as well . Terrible hotel .

Room tip: Needs updating and customer service was not good
