More of a guesthouse, HIX was still an interesting place to stay.
We got room 5 on the top floor (narrow wooden stairs, no lift) which was quite big and had a nice aspect. Wonderfully comfy bed, a lovely bright little seating area, nice ensuite, old wooden creaky white floorboards. The Coffee machine was most welcome, and the margarita mix kit was fun.
Breakfast didn’t work quite as planned. We waited for our hamper to be dropped off at 8:00 as was advised, but nothing happened. We phoned the number we were given but the recorded message said these weren’t business hours. Phoning the emergency number, the girl said she’d ring us back but that didn’t happen. But the hamper did eventually appear outside the door, although a knock on the door to let us know would have been appreciated. So we eventually did get our breakfast, which was pretty basic tho - help yourself to toast etc down in the kitchen, but we gave that a miss.
So an interesting stay, more prissy than practical tho. More
