“Lovely place desperately in need of TLC”

Stayed again in Curlew. This is our 4th time there and I'm so sorry to say there has been a deterioration in standards since the new owners have taken over. Rubbish and mess is piling up. The swimming pool water looked a bit mucky although it seemed to clear up over the 2 weeks. It needs some money spending on it. The double bed is too small and the mattress was awful. We bring our own topper and it's still bad. My husband slept in the single bed and I slept in the double with my 11 year old daughter. These could be an absolute goldmine as they are fully accessible but the carpets need taking up and hard flooring putting in as it's very difficult to push a hoist over carpet with a 19 year old in it. The new owners are pleasant people and did their best to secure a dvd player when the one in Curlew broke. Thank you. Kitchen is well equipped and the lodge is very clean. Please don't let this place go downhill as it is so lovely. I know how difficult it must be when you take over somewhere new and it needs some cash spent on it!

Spotlessly clean and comfortable cottage. Lovely view to look at when sitting outside.
So good to be able to go swimming on a hot day.
Hosts could not have been more accommodating. Selection of beer on sale in Dippers bar excellent.
We hope to return next year.

Liked best: Accommodation spotless, very comfortable. My daughter still talks about the dippers bar and my husband thought the choice of beer on sale excellent. It was so good we had to bring some home.
Liked least: There was nothing not to like

“A very pleasant holiday with great surrounds.”
Reviewed 29 April 2016 for a stay in April 2016

We have just come back from a week's break and we would just like to say how we both feel relaxed after a nice quiet holiday with beautiful surroundings.
Karen came out to find us when we got lost before we arrived,. Damn the Sat Nav for getting us lost.
Although the weather was very patchy we still had a lovely holiday. The facilities were good my wife enjoyed the swimming pool and we played pool and table tennis. Our dogs also seemed to enjoy the break!

“Something for everyone”
Reviewed 18 April 2016 for a stay in March 2016

We had a lovely few days over Easter at Curlew for my Mum's birthday .. on the rainy days it was warm and cosy and on the one sunny day we had (Mum's birthday), we enjoyed brunch on the balcony with lovely views of the lake, countryside and daffodils. The cottage met all our needs as we were travelling with my Dad who has limited mobility. Curlew was clean and spacious and Karen was very welcoming and thorough with showing us around, plus how lovely it was to have a cream tea waiting for us. I enjoyed the pool for a quiet dip on one of the evenings and we checked out the games room which was very well equipped - something for everyone. We definitely plan to come back. Thank you :-)
