Just returned from spending a week at the Ru i Monica Hotel Nerja. The hotel is spacious very clean and in a great spot. The room was lovely(121) on the first floor, however, our view although we could see the sea in the distance we overlooked the concrete roof of the dining room if we had been there more than a week would have asked to be moved to a higher floor would recommend a higher floor. The overall hotel is very nice lovely pool area sea front and the food was good and varied only drawback 2 sittings 18.15 and 20.15 you choose which option in check in also given a table number for the week but they are very accommodating and you can change your time with the restaurant the day before. Staff overall very friendly especially reception. It's a great spot lots of bars restaurants facing hotel and less than 10mins to Balcon which is lively loads of bars, restaurant and shops. Nerja is a lovely place lots going on and we would certainly return and probably to the Ru Monica which is in a prefect spot.

Room Tip: High floors

Been 3 yrs since our last visit so was looking forward to seeing what difference the modifications had made to a hotel we had previously loved.
Well there was nothing to worry with the changes only enhancing the character and charm that was always present.
Rooms with new TV and shower make the short time spent in the room more pleasant. We loved the chance to eat outside both morning and evening. Staff were excellent as usual as was the food, and generally the inside of the hotel was beautifully clean and modern without being all glass and chrome. Pool area is still very pleasant with the added benefit of covered loungers for those not wanting direct sun. With the hotel now being adult only enjoyed the peace and quiet and there also seems to be improvement in dress code at dinner. Only thing I’d change would be to make glass panels onto the prom mirrored. Some of the sights from the prom at head height can put you right off your ice cream

Ok but weird in some ways which are totally publicised so no complaints. (Dinner shift pattern, breakfast tables crammed together ) As a slightly chubby 50 year old (!) I was one of the youngest slimmest guests last week! Adults only evidently meant bordering on pensioners only. Staff faultless but quite an aged atmosphere and clientele. Nothing really wrong with it but probs not head back for 15 years or so.

Everything about this hotel was first class. The room. Cleanliness, food, staff and location.
Only 1 criticism no tea and coffee making facilities in the room, surely a basic!
An all inclusive option would be a bonus but would not stop us returning.
Lots of local bars providing good food and beer at reasonable prices.
10 minute walk to the town centre.

We spent two weeks at the Riu Monica in Nerja and had a brilliant holiday. Staff were excellent on the whole (Restaurant staff could be a bit more friendly). Food was good with plenty of choice. We usually go to Riu Palace hotels, so not quite up to their standard but not far from it. Large and well cleaned room. Did have a problem with leaking shower door but spoke to Isham (the very efficient Deputy Manager) and it was fixed by our return in the evening. If you have a problem, they do happen, just let Isham know and he will get it fixed.Nice not to have children running around the hotel, we shall be back next year.
