“Impressive Convent & Church”

Convento de Santa Clara
Reviewed 28 May 2018

This was a interesting place and there is a fee rigidly enforced by the nuns so do not slip in here without paying which could happen as the payment place is in a side room. Worth a visit even for the fee to see the fascinating architecture.

A place for contemplation . We arrived about half an hour before the convent closed in the evening . We entered and were looking into the church when a nun approached us to buy entrance tickets and told us to visit the church and cloisters first as services would begin soon . We then visited the tower for views over the city . The same friendly ( and English speaking ) nun then escorted us to the gates . We asked if we could take her picture locking the gates which she readily agreed to , allowing us to hold the keys -- and immediately gave us her email address to send the picture to ! One of the quirky experiences that make a vacation memorable .

Lovely convent and historic rooms, worth a visit while in Carmona. Not free, but inexpensive. Friendly staff

The convent is a special place, full of calm and intimacy. A jewel of Baroque architecture which you will enjoy especially if it is a hot day. You can buy the sweets made by the nuns in artesanal way. A heavenly taste!!

The convent was surprisingly nice to visit. A lot more to it than one would expect. A variety of artifacts throughout the church and a lovely courtyard entry. It is a peaceful place to sit for a few moments and reflect on life.
