As above.
Good place for exploring. You need a car. Cottage has character. Space outdoors to sit, eat etc if weather nice. Pretty to look at especially with hanging baskets.

We stayed just one night for a family event in the area, but wish we could have stayed longer. Lena was fantastic - so welcoming and helpful - and provided us with everything we could need. Our toddler loved the little cottage, and the gates on the stairs were a real plus :)
In August 2015 we, a family from Munich with two girls (9 and 12) spent 3 weeks in this lovely cottage. Mrs. Cummins was incredibly helpful and kind, and even though the weather wasn't quite as we had anticipated, our stay here near Portumna was a wonderful experience. Our smaller daughter (9) simply loved to feed the chickens and the sheep, and was so excited to eat eggs freshly found! We really enjoyed the fireplace; and the cottage, though small, had just the right size - so cosy!!
We made trips all over the country - Ireland ist just like a fairytale place, and Portumna ist a good starting point to head off in all kinds of directions, if you can't make up your mind what to see. It's not that far to Dublin - we visited several times, actually; though Galway is much nearer, of course, and very charming indeed. We have also been to Portumna Castle, Kilkenny Castle, The Rock of Cashel and Cahir Castle, The Burren, The Cliffs of Moher, Connemara, Newgrange, and we made a trip to Northern Ireland as well, which was also very interesting.
The only thing to keep in mind while planning trips is - on country roads, always add 1/3 more time to the calculations of Googlemaps or else - you don't really want to drive the assumed speed on those roads...! ;-)
We can sincerely recommend staying in Cummins Cottages!!
The cottage is such a lovely place to stay....small but big enought with every little thing you need....
When we arrived the fireplace was already burning and lena was there to welcome us.
A very warm welcome and a bottle of wine wich my friend loved.
We loved the cottage it had everything from the books and tips from Ireland to the hairblower up stairs.. a new washingmachine and dryer in the barn.
Also the chicken in the garden and the lambs in the fields are great to see.
Lena gave info about where to go and was very helpful.
She made us a irish breakfast that was delicious.
Lena is the perfect hostess and we would love to go back to ireland and stay at Shannon Breeze Traditional Irish Cottage.

Perfect place to stay and Lena was WONDERFUL! The cottage is adorable and super very cozy...Lena was very helpful full of ideas and suggestions of places to visit. Portumna is a nice little town to visit and everyone was friendly there. The cottage is close to many castles and other sites as well. We were already planning a second trip even before leaving the Shannon Breeze. From the adorable cottage to the sheep, hens, fresh eggs, and beautiful sun rises and sun sets...just a wonderful experience!
