This cottage did not disappoint. It was clean and had all amenities we needed, and felt cottagey and quaint without being kitschy. Beautiful wood ceiling and floors span the open concept living area, dotted with beachy decor. The only things we would have changed about the cottage itself would be cleaned windows (because the view of the ocean was spectacular) and a new toaster (lots of burnt bread in the mornings).
We travelled with a 12 month old baby, and the owners were so wonderful about making the space work for us. They brought in a pack 'n play and a highchair to make our stay that much more comfortable. Ellen and Chuck were really great to work with, and put up with my million questions pre-trip.
As many others have said in reviews, BRING BUG SPRAY. Even in the strong ocean breeze, those mosquitoes are everywhere. Walk 15 minutes down the coast to the sandy beach, though, and the bugs are gone.
This cottage was in an ideal location for us. We didn't want to have to drive far and wide with a baby in the car, but we were able to access most of the span of PEI National Park within an hour drive each direction. And Charlottetown was only half an hour away for supply runs or rainy days.
The bird watching from this cottage was AMAZING. Within half an hour of our arrival, we went to the water for a family photo and were photo bombed by a bald eagle. The first of two we saw. We also watched ospreys catch fish, and spotted an Arctic Turn, all right in front of the cottage.
We will be returning to this cottage again and will be recommending to all of our family and friends.
We are just finishing up our week at Blueberry cottage. It has been a wonderful time. The cottage was perfect for our needs, clean and comfortable with a lovely view of the ocean from the front deck There is a huge front yard for frisbee throwing with our dog, she was in seventh heaven. The beach is rocky right in front of the cottage but turns quite sandy in either direction and goes on forever. It is a short drive to Charlottetown and of course a lovely PEI drive in either direction. We will definitely return and would highly recommend Blueberry cottage. Thanks Ellen and Chuck.
My girlfriend and I recently stayed here for a week, we had a great time on the beautiful island of PEI.
The cottage was perfect, we were two plus our dog and there was plenty of room for sleeping, relaxing, making meals and storage. The place is well maintained and very clean, they supply linen and towels which made it quite convenient for travellers coming from Ontario. Small things to note were that there was no salt and pepper nor ice trays upon arrival, so make sure you come stocked from home or you'll be buying local. Also the wifi is not available at the cottage but rather 500 feet down the lane at the last cottage. Thankfully we had plenty of data and service from Telus.
The hosts made sure we had plenty of information on events and things to see and do on the island which was super helpful for a couple of tourists. So you won't be bored with either good or bad weather as there is plenty to do.
We visited many of the beautiful beaches the island has to offer plus we drove the points east coastal drive stopping at the east point lighthouse and singing sands beach. We went to the Charlottetown farmer's market, visited cavendish beach, went biking on the western gulf shore parkway between cavendish and North Rustico. Also ate a lobster dinner at New Glasgow, they are all worth the drive from the cottage. We also really enjoyed the quiet and great beach located down Macdonald Road near the Point Deroche Pond only 15 minutes from the cottage, it's perfect. There was only about 15 people there and we stayed for hours and walked out dog.
Great all in all visit and you wouldn't be disappointed with the offerings this cottage has during your stay in PEI.
The cottage is very comfortable. It has 2 BR. It is listed as "sleeps 6". it would be very tight for 6. We were just 2 people and it was wonderful. I can see 4 people maximum staying there.
It is right on the ocean and next to 2 other cottages belonging to the same owner. Being at the end of a dead end road in the country it is very quiet indeed. A beautiful long beach is a few minutes down the road.
There is access to the beach from the cottage but one must walk on rocks for quite a while in order to reach it. It is much easier along the road.
The Wifi was at best unreliable, go to the libraries or the welcome centres. They all have free service.
The cottage is very clean and the kitchen well equipped. It is a 40 min drive to lovely Charlottetown.
.We weren't lucky with the weather but still really liked PEI. There are wonderful deserted beaches everywhere., wonderful music , lovely villages, superb national parks and gorgeous long drives.
