What a fun and amazing way to travel to the Grand Canyon without having to drive. The entertainment on the train was excellent. We loved Banjo Billy. There were several people in our car who were celebrating birthdays (including me) and Banjo Billy sang Happy Birthday to us along with performing many other fun "Cowboy" songs. The pastries, coffee and fruit were also nice since we were traveling in the morning.

The train ride scenery was all trees, some wild animals, friendly hostess on the train kept us interested & laughing. Unusual winter weather, snow, sleet, rain & wind during the south rim bus tour was interesting. We enjoyed a buffet lunch. We're able to see only the bottom of the canyon. Everyone needed parka coat to keep warm when getting off the bus to view the sights. Felt sorry for those visiting the Grand Canyon for the first time. We have been to the Grand Canyon many times and had better weather. So if the weather man predicts snow at Flagstaff, I would hold off 1-2 days before going.

In January, my best friend and I were working out excursions for an April trip to Sedona. We knew we wanted to go to the Grand Canyon, but were unsure of the unpredictable weather, so we decided to let someone else worry about the driving and we would just dress appropriately. Taking the train offered views of the surrounding landscapes, a caretaker of our car that kept us entertained and informed, musicians, an old west Marshall, and a 'train robbery'. This is especially perfect for families. We were also pleased that we would not be leaving as much of a carbon footprint on the area by not driving! You are on the train about 4 hours and 30 minutes (round trip) and spend about 3 hours on the South Rim. I would recommend taking the morning trip into the Grand Canyon and taking the afternoon trip back to Williams on the following day!

As we had an RV, it was decided that this was the best way to get to the Grand Canyon.
We found it to be quite relaxing and enjoyable way to get to the Grand Canyon. The staff was quite friendly and helpful. We learned a lot on the way, and the return was no exception except for the entertainment and the staged holdup. It was quite a bit of fun. This was the gang who couldn’t shoot straight and a marshal who was quite inept. It was worth what we paid just for the experience.
