Stay in the heart of Apia

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 27 Jan 2020via mobile
If you want to stay in the heart of Apia then this is it.
I would not put it in the resort category but rather a hotel with a decent pool.
We stayed in a bungalow. Whilst it was pleasant and clean if you like to have a window open rather than rely on air conditioning all the time it is not for you. No opening windows. We spent a lot of time sitting in the two chairs on the front porch. Our room did not have a safe. We had to ask for it. We got one on the second day off our stay. I would suggest that you use the safe.
Breakfast was included for us each day. It
had some rather strange dishes but also the regular. I'm not a coffee drinker but apparently it was not great. Service was a bit hit and miss. Everyday was a new day.
Pool bar was never open but there was always someone around to get a drink from. Pool towels were always on the bar though.
We had a few dinners in the open restaurant. The coconut pie was delicious.
Had the degustation dinner at Aggie's.
The staff were mostly great. They tried hard.
I found the biggest issue was the tiles that are all around the pool and in the open areas between the rooms. It's the wet season it rains every day and those tiles are like an ice skating rink when wet. The biggest accident waiting to happen. I would never recommend for a disabled or elderly person to stay there because of this.

Recently visited the Aggie Grey's resort. The resort itself is well maintained and the staff are helpful. However, they seem to like hosting birthday parties at the resort. In itself this is not bad but they do not control the noise. We had to leave the pool area due to how loud the party guests were blasting music.

When we arrived there were a few issues which were dealt with. Although it was a rocky start, the lobby bar staff in particular, Meleseka really looked after us. She made the best Pina coladas that we had in Samoa. Make sure you ask for Meleseka as she will make you the best cocktail at Aggies.

We had 2 events hosted by sheraton which was schuster family reunion and I must say that the service provided and the food was amazing, Carlos who has assisted us through out is amazing, not forgetting ernest, Kirk and tino at the bar who always serve our family with a smile. If your looking for a place to host a big event trust me sheraton is the place to book. Thank you Sheraton staff for all your hard work and friendly service. Well done to the chefs as well.

Cheers

Stayed here for 2 nights for new years eve.
Very disappointed.
I was a Bonvoy Elite Member. No recognition. No upgrade and not even record my membership number.
Day 1. Woke up by wake up call at 2.40am. Phone kept ringing as the wireless phone was not working and the operator refuses to give up. Finally picked up the phone and told the operator that I did not request for wake up call service. No apologise.
Day 2. Follow up with the duty manager. She promised me to investigate. Heard nothing afterwards.
Room Service. Slow. No one clean up the room until 3pm.
Room was old and even have stains on carpet.
2nd Night. Disco loud music thst can be heard from the room till 1.15am.
Check out. Waited for 10 minutes and even I have prepaid the room, still ask me for payment.
Swimming pool. No staff. Bar is empty. No pool towel. Asked staff and was told no towel.
Raining day. Asked staff for umbrella and was told none available.
Last day, woke up by fire alarm. No explanation from staff if it was a false alarm or not.
Overall, worse Sheraton Hotel I had even stayed at. I understand that new years eve was a busy period but while there are individual staff that are very polite, unfortunately overall this is unacceptable as a 5 star hotel. I stayed at Sheraton Beach Samoa and in comparison they are by far many times better in service.
Unless the management starts to care about their guests, I will avoid this hotel.
