The room had everything needed. And no bugs at all! TV had all four channels but the pool at the hotel was great! Breakfast at the hotel was great! Everyone was helpful. Nice Jungle environment. Tropical birds singing every morning,

We had the most amazing stay at the Orator. The Owners & Staff were very lovely to deal with. Our kids loved that they could swim everyday. We highly recommend. Would Suggest though maybe installing a Laundry room and a kitchenette for the option of doing your own washing and preparing something to eat yourself?? Other than that it really was beautiful and amazing and we would def stay again. 5+++

My family of 14 stayed at the Orator for 3 nights for our family reunion from 26 to the 29th August. We took up 6 rooms one being room 15 which was our 28 year sons room and his wife. It was also a room where our kids all hung out with their cousins.
On our last night we all went out to Apia for dinner upon our return late in the evening we found their bottle of Jim Beam was half empty when it was never opened!!! Our other bottle of liquor was also almost empty when only had a couple of drinks.
As we were running late to check out as we headed to St Theresa for the final part of our reunion we did not get a chance to let management know. Since returning to Australia i have just gotten a chance to post this.
Our family travel the world and you can view all my previous post. I post both good and bad experiences for future travellers as i too rely on reviews to determine where we stay. I tell you do NOT stay here as i am gobsmacked in the fact staff had access to our rooms when their was no need. We still wonder what else they helped themselves to from our luggage that we have not identified.
Management train your staff and put strategies in place to ensure they are not stealing from your guests as it is not acceptable!!

We stayed here for 5 nights in September for my grandmother's unveiling.

Having stayed here before, last time in 2014 we thought we'd stay here again as we had enjoyed it in our previous trips.

Check in was ok, although haad to lug our bags to our room - no staff in site apart from the lady at reception.

Suddenly 2 guys appeared when we got to the villa and took bags in. They hung around for awhile which was a bit unnerving.

We were disappointed when we arrived at our room, as there was no water in the fridge and no fruit platter which was what we'd booked.

The room looked tired a like it had not been cleaned. Stains on the curtains and bedspread.

When we went to get into the bed it was obvious the sheets had not been changed as there was bits of grass and hair on the sheets. Disgusting!

Given it was late we slept on our lavas although being a clean freak it was a terrible sleep.

The next day i went to reception and complained about the state of our room, asking the girl at reception to either change our room or get the housekeeping person to strip both beds, towels etc. She wasnt very helpful saying to go and tell the housekeeping staff to do it...wtf.

Breakfast is average. Sausages, bananas, toast and cornflakes...not very nice.

On our last night we ordered food from the restaurant - big mistake.

We got 1x vege burger, thai beef salad, garlic bread and 2 drinks.

The person on the bar overcharged us and then 20mins later came up to our room to say there was no beef salad today. Changed order but this took another 45mins for our food to arrive.

When it did come it was cold. Vege burger was terrible, bun wasnt even toasted and bread was stale. The fish mh partner got was ok...he ate given we had waited for over an hour for this. But the garlic bread wasnt garlic bread - it was stale bread with heese partially melted on top of it.

When i took it back to the kitchen and asked for a refund the rude woman at the bar just laughed and said "oh the chef always makes the garlic bread as cheese bread". No refund.

Finally on checkout they tried to charge us for a $100 tala drinks and food bill dated 2 days before we even arrived in Samoa. Be careful - if you do choose to sray here pay for it all online beforehand and print out a copy if the reciept.
Long story short - dont order food here.

Anyway our stay continued on like this. Below par rooms in need of maintenance and better cleaning.

We wont stay here again.

this was a cheap-mid range hotel in Apia. stayed in standard villa and this was fine. A little dark but nice. bathroom had some leaky taps, ants and sketchy hot water (like other hotels in Samoa) ..room aircond was excellent. grounds are very leafy and verdant. Pool was a little tired and could do with repaint. strong smell of chlorine. dining area was ok and food pretty good, esp. oka. Staff were always friendly. welcoming reception area and huge carpark. Hotel is out of Apia a bit, up in the higher hinterland inland. About 15 mins or so in a taxi into town or coast. Recommended for short stay or first or last night ...

Room tip: try the fresh oka in dining room ..one of the best in Samoa
