Lunch at the restaurant

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 22 Jul 2017via mobile
We stumbled upon Seabreeze by accident while waiting for To Sua trench to open. So lucky! We just needed lunch and ate out on the deck overlooking the bay, wishing we could stay there. Delicious lunch for a very good price considering the location and amenity.

Some things are just meant to be and we are so thrilled that you enjoyed a “Delicious lunch for a very good price”. As you are aware our menu is extensive and our prices have not increased for years, providing quality cuisine at an affordable price is a priority at Seabreeze.

We are often told by lunchtime visitors that the view of our historical coastline along with our varied cuisine sets the scene for a unique dining experience. There are no rushed seating’s, no pressure to leave, just the waves to serenade and time is only measured by the contentment of our diners.

Maybe next time we will have the honour of you choosing Seabreeze for your Island escape, and sharing many moonlit dinners at our waterfront restaurant & bar that gives a whole new dimension to romantic dining at its best.

Overall this is a really great place to stay for say 3 days and just relax in a beautiful setting. Only 10 bungalows it has its own bay with easy swimming paddling to 2 good beaches all in the larger reef enclosed lagoon. Nice pool and little bar. We had one of the larger cabins of which there are three. Outdoor shower as well as indoor, very well appointed with a great view over the bay. Staff were very friendly and helpful and obviously take great pride in their resort. The Samoan singing and dancing that the staff put on for Friday night was a highlight. The food is good but not great and the meal plan is not really a saving unless you eat a lot at both lunch and dinner. We would definitely go back for another stay.

Room tip: Go for the bigger cabins

Thanks for taking the time to review your Seabreeze Experience. We are thrilled that you found us a “great little resort”, we LOVE being small and knowing all our guests by name, it’s the personal touch that makes us so different to larger resorts.
Our Beachfront Villas are really special, as you say indoor & outdoor hot water shower all secluded within a walled courtyard with a hammock, daybed or relaxing outdoor furniture making outside the place to be.
Our Yummy meal plan is Lunch and Dinner and gives you the comfort of knowing that everything except beverages is covered prior to your arrival. Add in our complimentary two course breakfast and the free mini bar that we replenish daily, it’s almost a “fully inclusive” deal. For those wanting this value added meal plan – please note this must be pre booked and is not available on Island.
We will pass on your kind words to our great staff; our floor show is very different to others, a taste of culture that introduces Samoan passion & talents from cuisine, dance and song. Like you say, this is a “Highlight” of anyone’s stay.
Hope to see you back again one day, till then farewell dear friend.

A small boutique hotel based around a delightful verdant cove perfect for chilling. We'd spent a week touring different locations in North Island New Zealand and Seabreezes was perfect to slow the tempo down a few notches. I use the BT mobile network back in the UK but although the hotel is in sight of a mast there was at the time of our visit no local partner arrangment so I had no mobile coverage, which as far as I was concerned, was a blessing and added to the mood of relaxation. Wifi cover coud be purchased but seemed fairly expensive and we were warned of mediocre bandwidth - so we read books, talked amongst the 4 of us, drank beer, and watched the wildlife - particularly the large fruit bats leaving their roosts and flying out across the cove on their hunting forays. The chalets are spacious and comfortable and we slept well. There are plenty of staff working around the resort keeping it clean and without exception all were very friendly and helpful - the restaurant staff especially so. Food was delicious and well presented. Snorkeling in the cove is easy though at certain states of the tide fairly strong currents swirl in which might be challenging for poor swimmers. Fish variety and numbers were not as good as seen off Savai'i but were still worth looking for. We hired a car but in the end only used it to get to Savai'i, preferring to walk the short journey along the very quiet coast road to the Te Sua Ocean Trench and then back along the beach. Te Sua is a must for the more adventurous - I've seen it labelled as one of the prettiest natural swimming pools in the world and it deserves the label. The wooden ladder down to the swimming platform is near vertical and not for the meek though but for those not prepared to climb down the gardens at the top are beautiful and the coastal views spectacular with breakers crashing in on the old lava fields.

We are really happy that you found your stay with us so enjoyable. We are very fortunate to be in such a special location and walking distance to To Sua Trench and Vavau Beach, both stunningly beautiful, and unique. With lovely village walks around us we often see guests arriving by hire car expecting to explore every day to only use the vehicle for a few days and then choose to visit the South Coast attractions by foot and feel the real Samoa, as you walk through the village to TALOFA, as friendly locals welcome you. Maybe next time you can save the hire fees and hire an onsite car from Seabreeze for a day or two and that way you only pay for the days you need the vehicle, you can spend the difference on cocktails or pampering massages 

We are thrilled that you were able to discard technology, read books and relax. Whilst we offer Bluezone Internet cards that carry unlimited data, the weather sometimes causes issues with drop outs and is indicative of an Island network, despite this being hosted by Bluesky, Samoa’s largest and cheapest internet provider.

Thanks for your kind words regarding our army of staff, they are really amazing, and we have 35 in all. Our chefs will be thrilled with your compliments on their “delicious and well presented” dishes; it’s nice to know you enjoyed their efforts,

It’s always a pleasure to have our guests chill out and take a step back in time where relationships flourish with good old fashioned communication.

We hope your memories of Seabreeze and our genuine Samoan hospitality will be a cherished memory. I’m English too and if you are ever thinking of a tropical Christmas, we do GREAT New Year’s celebrations, a mix of Samoan passions with English tradition, Join us.

Our son had a romantic engagement at Seabreeze before the tsunami and because we loved it so much, we decided to return for our Golden Wedding. We were really spoilt and had a relaxing time. The staff are really efficient but at the same time so friendly and happy. The location of the restaurant is perfect and the food is of a high standard. The complimentary breakfast is great. The addition of the pool is a good idea. The location of Seabreeze is just right for a relaxing holiday but it is 1 1/4 hours drive from Apia and so if you want to see more of Samoa you need to hire a car, which can be done at the Resort. Chris, the owner is always happy to help and advise.

Thank you for again choosing us to celebrate your 50th wedding anniversary and of course allowing us to reminisce on your son’s epic engagement plan that we facilitated all those years ago. We wondered what the father of our legendary “Cave Man” would have planned for your special day.

We are really thrilled that we made you feel “spoilt” , between your son and hubby everything was taken care of with bells & whistles for a memorable occasion. Whilst we believe it’s all the little things that we do that helps to enhance your stay and make cherished memories, a bit of forward planning from loved ones gives us an insight into our guests individual desires and provided us with the opportunity to enhance your milestone anniversary.

Glad you enjoyed our complimentary breakfast, it is a great start to the day and we are pleased that you found the location of our waterfront restaurant “perfect” and our food as usual is always an asset to any guests dining experience.

We will pass on your kind words of support to our staff and of course Chris, hope we get to see you again in the near future and once again look forward to making your stay the best it can be, in our “relaxing” tranquil location

On behalf of the Seabreeze family may we wish you many more years of health and happiness?

Unfortunately there are a few caveats, they sound minor but for a top class, top price place small things make a difference.

First booking the meal plan was a mistake. We don't want or need to eat three cooked meals a day and the meal plan is a 'use it or lose it' affair. Luckily they let us off partially and allowed us to spend the money on the food and bar tab. Not ideal but ok. Only buy this plan if you are sure you won't go out for the day and want to eat three solid meals every day in the restaurant. The plan really isn't good value otherwise.

The resort is actually very small and especially in poor weather there is not a lot to do. No DVD, TV, stereo or coffee machine in the rooms either which is a surprise in a resort of this standard.

We made use of the on site hire car and were very pleased we did. There is a lot to see on the island and we found the owner most helpful in advising where to go (if you are out for the day you are obviously going to have lunch elsewhere). Note that you'll need some local cash to visit the various attractions. $100-150 tala per day out for two was ample for us. Get this on arrival at the airport, there's a tiny ANZ office there or in Apia.

The other bit of advice would be to cost a rental car to pick up on arrival and drive yourself rather than the hotel transfer and car rental from the hotel ($200 tala for the first day and $150 thereafter). It might be cheaper and would certainly be more flexible.

The resorts wifi is a pay by the hour system and seriously poor value. We bought a $20 tala Bluesky data sim at the airport pre-loaded with 4gb of data. Heaps for a week and we shared it with the hotspot on my phone. You can buy another 1.5gb for $20 tala but have to use top up cards available everywhere on the island.

Probably the one thing that bugged us most was the way that important guests (a party of travel agents and a touring rugby team) were treated. The works were turned on with staff singing (a treat), conch shells being blown, best tables set aside and even a haka. Regular Joe's like us don't get this treatment. Not that it's bad, just not the same.

Finally we left feeling they the resort could use some very simple improvements to move from good to great. Charge a little more, skip the cost cutting and and cut out the penny pinching things like the exchange conversion rates used and the 3% on top for using a credit card.

So yes, Seabreeze is very good and Samoa is a great place to visit but it compares unfavourably with some other places we've stayed. On the other hand we thoroughly enjoyed our stay so don't be put off, just be aware.

Room tip: The beach side or honeymoon would be the pick. The pool side ones look pretty small and lack privacy

We are thrilled that you "thoroughly enjoyed your stay" and we thank you for your feedback we appreciate both good & bad assists us in making Seabreeze the best it can be!

If I can please just correct a few of your “Facts” so that other tripadvisor followers and future guests can make informed decisions.

1: Meal Plan: This is clearly explained in our fact sheet that we send out when guests enquire about this plan, and of course is a matter of choice. At $71.00 NZD per person per day – Guests receive a meal allowance of $60 Tala for lunch and $80.00 Tala for Dinner off any of the A la carte, Pizza and specials menu. If you convert the $69.00NZD there is a saving of $18/$20 Tala per person per day, depending on conversion rates. Also available on our web site is our room inclusions like two course A la carte breakfast, complimentary mini bar replenished daily, plus much more.
2: We do not have TV’s or DVD’s in the room, ROMANCE is what Seabreeze encompasses and through past experience we have found that not all music genres are palatable to neighbours and not all guests are considerate of noise levels. In a small bay with amazing acoustics the sound levels are important & peace & tranquillity enticing intimacy are what most of our guests are drawn to.
3: Hire Cars: Seabreeze has on site hire cars these are exclusively for our in house guests use. Hire cars are discounted on a sliding scale depending on the length of time you have them, if you hire them for a week the rate reduces to $125 tala per day inclusive of insurances. As the cars are on site we generally find that guests only hire a car for one or two days, as you are aware we are in very close proximity to To Sua Ocean Trench, Vavau Beach & Lalaomanu beach so half day trips can easily be achieved by local Taxi or resort transfer. Please Note: local car rental companies charge a delivery cost to & from Faleolo Airport, guests are welcome to self-drive in & out during daylight hours – but between the hours of 6pm & 8am transfers are mandatory for our guest’s relaxation and safe arrival. We are always happy to assist in discussing options with you.
4: Internet: Seabreeze is a Bluezone Hot Spot, with Bluesky being the carrier The wifi top up cards we stock are $20 Tala for two hours log in log out and have UNLIMITED DATA for use over a two week period and can be used on any device unlike the data sims that can only be used on phones. This is the cheapest internet on the Island and we charge as per the Bluesky rates which is exactly the same products as you can buy at the airport or around the Island.
5: We also have complimentary handy phones (smart phones) for guests to use with a local sim, to enable you to contact friends & relatives at local discounted rates, far cheaper than roaming. We are always looking for ways to enhance our guests stay; we’d like to think that our service extends beyond the resort so these added touches are there for guests use if required.
6: Exchange rates are actually given to us by the bank each day & we convert NZD to Tala (local currency) using exactly the same rate as ANZ Bank uses; we do not add a margin to our billing process, and guests are welcome to pay in cash or cash/card whatever your preference is.
With regards to our visiting travel agents, we are sorry that you felt that you didn’t get the same treatment. When agents visit, we have a small window of an hour or two hours, to show them what our guests experience over a week’s stay, we don’t accommodate agents so the impact on guests is minimal, but we are sorry that you feel that this impacted on your stay.
All our guests over a few days stay are treated to all of the agent’s experience. If you cast your mind back you will remember the lovely Levaea sings three nights a week during dinner, on Fridays we have our cultural afternoon followed by our Fia Fia (which you participated in) where you would have experienced a full night of entertainment, including staff singing, the Samoan haka followed by the Kiwi challenge and of course every guest including yourselves are sung our specially written farewell songs to acknowledge the importance of our valued guests.
As you would have been aware the Welsh rugby team was a big hit, with the staff and as a one off occasion warranted a worthy Samoan haka performed on the team’s departure in the car park to show our pride before the upcoming game, all a bit intense we understand but Samoan pride will always shine on such occasions. With any outside events at no stage do we exclude our “in house guests” from the location and in this case we only agreed to a mid-afternoon lunch for the visiting team and a maximum two hour time frame for minimum impact.

We are sad that you did not find Seabreeze to be the best it can be, we understand the weather was not at its best, and everyone wants to come away & enjoy the sun and no rain. We also understand that when we have to enforce the resorts policies that guests can become unhappy and this ultimately affects the way we and Seabreeze are viewed, we do however always encourage our guests to research well and make choices carefully.
Again thank you for staying with us it is always a pleasure sharing our special piece of paradise with our valued overseas visitors, and we will continue to do our best to have valued guests experiences enhanced in any way we can.

My husband and I visited for 5 nights for our anniversary. Absolutely fantastic experience! We stayed at number 9 Beachfront Villa. We are so pleased with our choice and would definitely recommend this villa. It was spacious with a stunning view. The deck had a outdoor shower, double hammock, daybed, table and chairs which made the outdoor area extremely comfortable. The restaurant is fantastic and we ate there very night. On our anniversary we had a 3 course meal on our private deck. The staff brought a table to our accommodation and dressed the table along with a flower arrangement. Even the ice bucket was decorated! 4 staff members then came & sang to us. A truely memorable experience, thank you to Chris and the Seabreeze Team for making our anniversary so special! We also did lots of snorkelling at the resort along with kayaking. The cocktails at the poolside bar and restaurant are delicious, I recommend the Happy Coconut and Mudslide. Food recommendations: fresh pasta, tuna, tiramisu. Will definitely return 🏝🏝🏝🏝

Thank you for your great review of you 25th wedding anniversary at Seabreeze.

Our Beachfront villas are absolutely stunning and with an emphasis on outside living, they provide a unique environment for our guests to experience a romantic ambiance encapsulated within the luxury facilities, that this villa offers.

Seabreeze LOVES an occasion, honeymoons, birthdays and of course anniversaries We specialize in these memorable romantic 3 course dinners that you enjoyed on your deck. With no extra room service costs for this service, we find that it’s a great way to enjoy your own space, each others company and still receive the quality of service that you would expect with your own designated waiter looking after your every need. The decorated Ice buckets are pretty special too, but we are renowned for our attention to detail and creating a Romantic environment in a variety of locations.

We will pass on your kind words to our restaurant staff; we pride ourselves on “delicious” and varied cuisine, as we really believe that you need a great dining experience to complete the perfect package.

Thank you again for choosing Seabreeze for your very special occasion. We hope you will join us again in the near future as a returning guest doesn’t forget to enquire about our “returning guest’s” bonuses.

Till next time: Alofas Wendy, Chris and our Seabreeze family
