Look. It really depends on what you want out of a holiday BUT if you are looking for utterly delightful peace and quiet, in an unspoiled part of the world, served by some of the most charmingly helpful people you could ever hope to meet, then Colina Verde is just the place for you.
As an area of the world you will enjoy all the benefits of proximity to a major airport, it is about 35 mins simple drive to Faro.Proximity to a,"meaty" town in Olhao ,which is 15 - 20 mins drive away, providing all the amenities you would hope for BUT most of all, once in the greater Moncarapacho area you will luxuriate in utter peace and quiet.
Our stay was in a three bedroom apartment which was entirely as described and photographed, lacked little, splendidly air conditioned throughout, overlooking the maginficent pool, it would be churlish to ask for much more. The fact that the T.V. screened Portuguese, Spanish,French and German in our case was a bit of a boon as their was little reason to even think about,"Hanging about the apartment" and so got out and about.
The foundation of Colina Verde is its employees. They provide and object lesson in service levels. All conversational English speakers, they exceed expectation. Bizarre story, we wanted to attend Mass, their are a large number of churches regionally ,all with different Mass times stretching out through the entirety of Saturday and Sunday. The wonderful Katia was on the phone to friends and family to give us the full range of choices. That is an example of customer service.
So if it is delightfully served self catering , friendly peace and quiet you crave,Colina Verde is the place for you

Stayed in Sept 2017 - Appt 112a on the ground floor.
The staff here were all really friendly and everything was nice and clean.
Appt serviced daily.

Had a balcony and outside dining table for 2.

Bathroom v big with bath but the jacuzzi part of it had been dismantled as was the tap to fill it and there was no plug (luckily we take our own plug as have found this often).

Towels provided but no toiletries other than showergel / handwash.

Kitchen had everything you needed except an oven ( hob & microwave provided) and plug for the sink missing. Had a dishwasher.

Large lounge, dining table. Sofa bed was uncomfortable to sit on - we had to 'plump it up' with duvets to make it comfortable.

Plenty of storage for clothes / cases etc.

bedroom really small - 2 twin beds squashed together to make a double ... no idea how it could be a twin room unless you are really friendly with the person you are sharing with !! Safe provided - ask for the key.

tennis, table tennis, pool, gym, sauna all available.

some of the furniture in the apartment is getting a bit tatty but didn't really bother us.
Aircon really good.

Outside pool with grassed area also.
Par 3 golf course was closed a few of the days we were there.....and it was quite ropey according to my husband. This was due to the really hot weather earlier in the year so might not be an issue once it recovers.

You definately need a car to stay here... there was nothing that we found within walking distance.

Nice quiet break .. woud stay here again

we made a few phone calls to this plce before deciding to book a week here. The staff were always nice and so we finally booked our holidays.
On the arrival, everybody was super nice. Our apartment was located on the 1st floor but there is an elevator if needed.
The place ir far from everything so it is really quiet and relaxing. We actually met some families who go there for holidays every year!
there is no way of going anywhere without a vehicle (at least, a bike) since the nearest supermarket is at 5km and the nearest beach at 7km. But the in site amenities are sufficient to never gettig bored: the outside pool, the jacuzzi, sauna, turkish bath, gymnasium, tennis, table tennis, snooker. All free of charge! There is no restaurant on site though, the best we can get are some toasties or sandwiches that are not worth the price. There is fresh baked bread though and it is possible to order it in advance.
Also, the apartment is very good. With large areas (except for the shower booth) and very well equipped, it offers a wonderful place to dwell.
The matresses are very good also, offering a good night's rest. We just have to point out what we need to the cleaning crew because they never seem to get it done.

We are just home from a wonderful family holiday at Colina Verde. I could go on forever about how great this place is. We where a family of five & I have a disability that limits my walking but this resort was perfect for all of us. This resort is perfect for all ages as there is something for everyone. We had hired a car and did travel around the area some which is beautiful but most days found ourselves staying at the hotel as the children (aged 12, 13 & 18) just wanted to use the amazing pool or play table tennis or tennis or football you name it they did it! Oh & not forgetting the footgolf that just has to be tried if you stay here I have never heard so much laughter & fun!!

The facilities in our apartment where perfect everything you need very spacious and comfortable. We cooked meals a few times and found the kitchen has everything we needed and more. It was so nice to sit on the balcony to eat or inside at the beautiful dining table having a choice to eat inside or outside comfortably is great. The grounds that the hotel is set in are beautiful and so peaceful you would never believe that you where so close to Tavera, Olhao & Faro. The WiFi was good with the added bonus of a wifi dongle to take out with you so no matter where we went (& especially in the car for iPad etc) you where never without wifi - it also came in handy for phoning eachother on viber or Facebook messenger or any Internet phoning app when my husband had went to get some shopping and could phone me back at the apartment to check if he had everything .

The facilities at the hotel as I have mentioned above are great but it is beyond a doubt the staff that make this place so wonderful nothing is too much trouble for them and if they notice anything extra that they can do for you without being asked it's done for you. We have stayed in a lot of places including a few five star resorts over the years but have never stayed anywhere that could even come close to the customer service & attention to detail the staff here provide. They are amazing.

Overall we could not praise this resort enough and will be back I'm sure. Thank you so much for making our holiday such a special one.

We did not stay at the hotel instead we played a round of golf on the small course (1 par4 and 8 par 3's). This little gem has the potential to be a fantastic addition to the ridiculous overpriced courses on the Algarve. It is set out beautifully and despite its small size is a challenge. having said that it is ideal for those learning the game or have dodgy handicaps. with one exception (hole 5) there are few hazards.

So the down side. The maintenance is appalling, the grass is ridiculous, where there should e fairways there is little sign and the greens had more sand on them than the bunkers. what a terrible waste of a wonderful course.

to be fair the price (15 euros for 18 holes) cannot be sneezed at but I am sure people will pay more for a little maintenance.

We did have a drink in the hotel and the staff were amazingly helpful but the lack of guests meant that the atmosphere is awful.

I recommend this course for new golfers and bad golfers (like me) but it should be so much better, come on Colina Verde pull your socks up!
