Always busy. One feels let down when it's closed. Amazing menu amazing coffee...great service one of my most favorite places. Feels like Europe away from Europe...

This really is the go-to place for breakfast, brunch or lunch! It is hugely atmospheric; beautifully appointed with a great in-out seating arrangement; bakery, plus gorgeous food, coffee & the rest. It is located on the now rather famous Thesen Island, which in itself is well worth a visit. There can be some waiting for a seat which is absolutely no problem given the surroundings, but it must be a mandatory visit!

One of several excellent restaurants on Thesen, we had a delightful breakfast here. We hadn't booked and had a baby in tow, but after a short wait a table came available. It was worth the wait. Breakfast wasn't large but it was delicious and the bread served with the poached eggs excellent. Highly recommended.

It is not often I unreservedly give a restaurant 5-stars for ambiance, food & service but over 2 visits on 7 March for lunch and 10 March for breakfast 'idp' got my 5-star rating on both occasions; the quality and flavour of the food - roasted cauliflower for lunch and scrambled egg & bacon for breakfast - was outstanding. We have been visiting 'idp' over many years and it only seems to get better & better. A last is to note their small by exceptionally well-chosen wine list

Thanks for your starry review. The wine list was chosen in a blind tasting by friends and family and we are very proud to be featuring some unusual and exceptional South African wines.

This place is spectacular. Nestled in Thesen Islands main square, this farm to table bakery and restaurant surprises at every turn. Specially coffees are all made fresh from Americanos to cappuccino to anything you could desire. The baked goods are spectacular. Very few bakeries take the time to make their own laminated though, so try every type of croissant they make. The breads, cakes, petit fours and pastries are all just as good. The breakfast is very reasonably priced and features their house made breads and farm fresh eggs. My suggestion is the max breakfast pairing a ham and cheese on toast each a bottle with a mushroom gravy, soft poached eggs and blistered cherry tomatoes. Everything we had and everything we saw looked as good as any breakfast eatery I have ever been to, and I am a man that likes breakfast! If you go to one breakfast eatery in the Knysna area, go here!
