“Great place”
A great place with good modern facilities, clean and well presented. If I were to make one recommendation it would be air con in the bedrooms but understand from other posts that it is restricted under the development / management rules. That said, the fans were more than adequate. The only downside is that in order to allow the cool air to circulate in the apartment the bedroom doors had to be kept open which could be a problem if you wanted to prevent the noise from the TV / kitchen from keeping little ones awake for example. This is minor and wouldn't stop me from booking again and I would highly recommend it.

“Tastefully furnished apartment in great location”
Very well furnished and very comfortable - exactly like the pictures and description (although it seems more than 100 metres to beach!). Friendly owners and efficient room service. Because it is close to the road to the beach (uphill on the way back!) and the centre of Umhlanga, you don't need to use the car. Secure, gated environment with guard.

“Awesome stay”

Our stay was amazing. The apartment has beautiful decor, it's clean and it's situated in a great area. Jono and Hermann were incredible from the point where we had enquired about the apartment to the end of our stay. I wish we could've stayed longer, but we will definitely be staying here again.

We love that you loved the location. It's a stone's throw away from everything you need. A few minutes stroll to the main swimming beach in Umhlanga, or to the many popular bars, restaurants and supermarkets in the famous Umhlanga Village.
We definitely look forward to seeing you again on your next trip! Don't stay away too long!

The decor, furniture, setting and appliances are exactly the way they're seen online. The apartment was absolutely lovely- so elegant. Everything right at our doorstep. My partner and I together with our friends have agreed to definitely come back. Our stay at The Shades was remarkable and really made it worthwhile. We received such a warm welcome!

As you rightly say, everything is on your doorstep. Only a few minutes walk to Umhlanga Village for all the supermarkets, restaurants and bars. Also only a few minutes walk to the beach! If walking doesn't do it for you, there is an inexpensive taxi service that can be arranged.
