Great little boutique hotel right on the waterfront.

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 22 Jun 2024
We were really impressed with this little boutique hotel right on the waterfront. There are only 5 rooms so really an intimate feel to it. On arrival we were met by the manager and driver at the airport following our middle-of-the-night flight from Guam – all very efficient. The staff were simply excellent – super friendly and helpful in all respects. On our first day, there was a problem with our rental car, so the manager, Ben, kindly offered to drive us around in the hotel van for a few hours instead, to see the many war relics and the stone money banks, which we thought was incredibly generous and really shows their commitment to customer service. Our room was a little on the small side but very tastefully furnished and decorated to a nautical theme. We had a nice balcony right out over the water to admire the beautiful views. We had great AC, good internet TV, and a mini-fridge among the many mod cons. The location is excellent, right next to the Manta Ray Lodge where most of the diving/snorkeling trips leave from. On the other side of the hotel is the main commercial complex with supermarket and other shops. There are 3 or 4 restaurants within easy walking distance, including the Mnuw boat restaurant right next door. Don’t miss out on exploring the historical stone paths around the area! Overall we had an amazing stay and would definitely recommend this place to other travelers. Great base on Yap.

Hotel is small only 5 rooms. Next to Manta bay resort where the two have a tie up though owned seperately. The service is good. Rooms though are small and bathrooms very small like a liveaboard. But they provide everything. They have a coffee maker with good coffee tea sugar coffee mate milk powder. Water in fridge etc. nice overall but small.

My wife and I paid for 3 nights, meeting the waiting driver with my printed name sign at YAP Airport arriving at 1:15AM and to this hotel at 2AM.
Prepared reception made check in quick and easy, filling out a short form, collecting the key and following the driver carrying our bag.
Room #2 was quaint like a cottage and constructed like a ship cabin with nooks and crannies to fill every need and enlightened by numerous mirrors. With a wood floor and close ceiling, it accommodates a comfortable king, a sink area with hot pot, coffee/tea, refer w/water, cabinet TV with vast streaming channels, secure room wifi and a super quiet wall AC. A front door opened to a tight toilet(floor wet with water leak) and shower room and a back glass door opened to an overwater deck with a table and 2 chairs.
There is a small library with AC/fireplace and an exquisite bar/lounge.
We walked 200m south to the outdoor Yap Living Museum, the excellent CO OP grocery and Ganir Restaurant and we walked 100m north to the 1898 “Mnuw” sea hawk ship restaurant and an Asian Store beyond.
We were very pleased with this friendly, quiet hotel which included airport transfers, nice accommodation and 24 hour reception. Nearly a 5*.

Small and private with beautiful view of the bay as the rooms overlook. While there is no restaurant inside the hotel, food can be brought in and staff are so accommodating to heat it. It is walking distance to grocery stores and restaurant, easily accessible.

Staff service is excellent, as taxi is limited on saturday afternoon, we were driven. I was also driven to my series of meeting.

As the place is quiet, one can hold a meeting in the patio near the bay. The bed is comfortable, I slept well

Easy and reliable booking with fast e-mail answers. We had an amazing stay in this wonderful house with cosy room. Very friendly and helpful staff. Easy to reach restaurants and you can find a dive shop or further options in the hotel nearby.

Room tip: Convenient pick-up and drop-off from and to the airport. The possibility for late check-out was a big plus as the flight left in the night.

My wife and I stayed here in Late September 2023. Rooms were clean and comfortable, and the décor was very pleasing. But that’s to be expected. What really impressed us were the staff, giving service that was exemplary. When my wife lost her phone, not only did the staff call the places we had been, but one of them drove to all those places while we waited and physically checked for us! Also, fishing off the private balcony in our room during high tide at 2 AM with the mini rods we brought with us and then BBQing our catch on the main deck was so cool! The staff were genuinely friendly, from pickup from the airport to our final checkout. We have been to a lot of places around the world, but the genuineness of the staff was above and beyond what we expected. If I could give 6 stars I would.

Room tip: Bring mini rods for fishing off your private balcony (reef fish really like raw bacon fat)!
