The food was amazing. Jennifer and her staff gave everyone the personal touch. Tonight will be the last night of our trip and we can’t wait to close out our trip here among friends we met over the last 9 days.

This seems to be one of a a couple of go-to restaurants in Yap. I stayed at another property but ate here a few nights. This bar/restaurant had a friendly and attentive staff as well as a surprisingly broad menu for Yap. The nightly menu is displayed on a chalkboard—it is a pretty long list. I should have taken a picture but forgot.

I had the rib eye steak a couple of times. The restaurant prepared and presented it well , but in full disclosure the cut quality wasn’t perfect (Rib eye quality tends to be a little unpredictable even in the states—this is a tropical island so some allowances have to be made when ordering beef that is being shipped in from who knows where taking who knows how long ). I was just very happy to get a steak seasoned properly and prepared as I asked 😀. I had a couple of other dishes that were all good with no caveats.

The various ex-pats and tourists I dined with all seemed happy with their meals. Given it is a small island , you tend to run into the same people over and over again. A frequent Yap visitor was actually talking up Oceania on the ride in from the airport the first night—I was glad to see in person that the restaurant lived up to her glowing verbal review.

The restaurant was open Monday-Friday as of January 2023. Not sure if that is the permanent schedule or if they will be open weekends as tourism recovers.

During our three previous stays at the Pathways (now Oceania) Hotel, we had found the restaurant to be nothing special. But this time, wow! The chef has been turned loose to “do his own thing,” with impressive results. We found ourselves thinking that if we found him cooking in our home city (where good ethnic restaurants abound), we'd definitely seek him out --- an idea not usually entertained when dining anywhere in Micronesia!

The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner (as well as breakfast for hotel guests) Tuesday through Sunday. It's a casual, open-air type place and includes a well-stocked bar. The menu, written on a large, movable chalkboard, changes daily, reflecting availability of ingredients. We ate many meals there over the space of ten days and thoroughly enjoyed every one. Steamed fish and sweet and spicy octopus were among our favorites. Everything is fresh and tasty, portions are generous, presentation is beautiful, and prices are reasonable. The staff is uniformly friendly and helpful.

During our stay in Yap, we sampled a few other eateries around Colonia. None of them came close to the Oceania!

Each dish is a culinary delight that surprises you with something special. During my ten days stay in Colonia I came here nearly daily. The menu is handwritten on a slate and gave me hard times to decide because everything sounded so tasty. First time that I had mushy pees or a spicy papaya sauce. Each dish was like a composition which fitted together in an excellent way. The portions are quite big but due to the light Philippino and Thai inspired cuisine I never felt heavy and even spicy dishes didn't irritate my stomach. This is a must for food lovers.

I didn’t have the pleasure of staying here, but I can confirm that this is a great option. I checked out the rooms and ate here on two occasions. Rooms are great...actually they are really cool. Not good for those who can’t manage stairs. What a great setting. But it is the food here that I will rave about. They have an extensive menu and are able to deliver on the quality. So fresh!! Super extensive bar and nice evening meeting spot. Locals and tourists all seem to flock here. You must eat here at some point during your stay.
