If only rate the food, one star. I rate it 3 stars because the waiters really care about you.

I ordered a classic chuletón. It was a very big portion but very very hard. After the difficult chewing process, I could not swallow them. When they collected the plate, I told the waiter it was too hard but didn’t ask for anything as I was too disappointed. 5 minutes later, the waiter put a new beef steak on my table and said: “ I don’t want to let you leave with hunger.” The new beef steak was a bit better.

BTW, the sangria here was quite special as they put rosella to enrich the flavor.

This restaurant, which is in an excellent location with a historic, original interior, did not have food to match. No issue with the service, but this is the first time I can recall having eaten less than 50% of my main course. I may have chosen badly, but my wife’s lamp chops were also well below the standard we would have expected from a similar restaurant in Spain.

A poor memory from, Ávila, which is a wonderful place.

We decided to stop by Avila on the way to Salamanca at the spur of the moment, so didn't research restaurants there and ended up relying upon cathedral staff recommendation and with a hefty bill for a party of 8.

Good thing that I noticed that someone recommended filet and ordered it for one of the girls. I should have ordered one myself as well, it was excellent and much better than the humongous veal chop that Avila is famous for and which at 550-600 grams I struggled to finish.

Overall a decent option. We liked outdoor seating in the courtyard but if we ever go back (I doubt it), we'd share and order filet.

We had the menu of the day for 20 euros. Excellent soups, salmon, and local dishes. The waitstaff was very attentive.

We wandered down a narrow alley alongside the cathedral and enjoyed a drink in the courtyard opposite this restaurant. A party of six, we were keen to enjoy a traditional Castilian meal.

The menu looked good, perhaps a bit more expensive that some of the surrounding tourist restaurants, and the meal did not disappoint.

We had delightful table in the courtyard restaurant in what seemed to be a rather smart hotel.

A good selection of traditional Spanish fare, including Chuleton of course! They service was excellent, the food well prepared and presented with surprisingly generous portions. We enjoyed some terrific wines too...

The meal was rounded off with a few glasses of Pedro Ximenez, of which there was a good choice.

I recommend this place.
