We loved the smoked salmon appetizers, the lobster and shrimp bisque, the rock fish, the service and, certainly, the atmosphere and views. The salmon entrée may have been the best we have ever tasted.
HOWEVER, the oyster appetizers were strong (smelling and tasting) and should be avoided.

Finally, their signature dessert was wonderful.

Even though the oysters were awful, I have to give the restaurant an excellent rating---the rest of the food was that good.

My recommendation, this is a must dine (and view) restaurant even though they miss stepped on the oysters.

I really wanted to give this place a higher rating, but the food was just not good enough for a higher rating. I was so looking forward to eating at a very high end restaurant, but was very disappointed in the actual taste and quality of the meal. The New York Strip was order by 3 different people in our party. None of the steaks were cooked to the ordered temperature. It was served with "Heirloom Beans", which were cooked with smoked pork. We all found them to be overly smokey and flavored with too much pork to be a good accompaniment to the beef. The beans were also under cooked. Overall, we were all disappointed. This will not be a stop on our trip next year.

We had another fine meal at 7 Glaciers. Highly recommend the Chef's tasting menu and matched wine pairings.

We enjoyed the tram ride to the restaurant and the spectacular views from our table. Although the service was slow, everyone was extremely friendly. The salmon was delicious, the filet of beef amazingly well seasoned. Even the sides were scrumptious. Everything tasted fantastic. Hands down the best restaurant we tried in the whole week we toured Alaska.

We especially enjoyed the dinner at the Seven Glaciers Restaurant. It is what some would consider haute cuisine, the menu is very tailored and portions are not American-sized. Our food was delicious and service impeccable. Prices are on the higher side but considering what you are paying for - the tram ride tickets, the view, the intimate setting, the absolutely beautifully appointed restaurant in glass and lighting and white table cloths in the late evening, the lovely wait staff, the experience of fine dining, we didn't feel it out of line. It can be a very romantic evening if you choose it to be (hint, hint.) These sorts of intimate jewels in the restaurant business are hard to come by and should be treasured. A Seward "local" told us to go to Chair 5 in Girdwood-claiming the food was "so much better." Hogwash! There is no comparison between these 2 restaurants!! Chair 5 is typical American fare. Seven Glaciers is an EXPERIENCE IN FINE DINING. I had the best Halibut of my life and the scallop soup is indeed a treat. We have absolutely no complaints. We have travelled the world and have eaten at many of the best joints in town, and have paid a lot more per plate (For instance, the Le Meurice in Paris offers a breakfast for 50 euros per person, and was a wonderful experience in its own way.) Seven Glaciers is a 5 star in my book and puts a smile on my face when I think of sitting in that chair again. Hopefully, you will have the same experience.
