The tour guide picked us up about 8:45 from the hotel. The tour of Raratonga Island lasted 5 hours and included a lunch of BBQ fish, rice with corn, slaw and fruit. Our driver had lots of interesting stories to share about the history of Cook Island. Even showed us how to clean a coconut and then slice it for everyone to try. It was a wonderful excursion and worth the time involved. At the end of the tour the guide dropped us back at the Hotel. Could not have been any easier.

Beautiful day on the largest of The Cook Islands. We arrived early in the morning on our cruise ship and the height of the mountains against the clear aqua water of the reef was very dramatic. The island immediately reminded us of the Hawaian island of Kauai. Stunning! We had to tender onto shore which gave you an opportunity to see the reef surrounding the island from a different perspective. We had organized a day tour going out into the lagoon for snorkeling then lunch on an island. Fresh fish caught that morning grilled over an open fire was delicious. Our boat guides were also talented musicians and entertained us after lunch. Learned the many ways to tie a pareo and how to climb a coconut tree then open the fruit and enjoy the milk and flesh. Lovely beach and swimming before returning to the main shore. We passed what looked like some beautiful resorts while sailing in the lagoon. Would love to return to this island and enjoy more of its beauty.
