Good hotel in a great location on Playa Flamingo beach. On arrival we were offered a refreshing drink, check in was quick and efficient, when we got to our room it seemed clean & modern on first impression but when we went to unpack there was a pair of wet swimming shorts in the bottom of the wardrobe left by previous occupants which made us feel Less confident about the cleanliness, the bath in the bathroom had seen better days and unusable as there was no plug, but there was an overhead shower but very low pressure. We couldn’t fault the maid and the daily cleaning of the room after the first day. We stayed All inclusive and enjoyed breakfast at Banana wind, staff friendly, plenty of food choices and not over crowded, the guys at the pool bar made the best cocktails all of good quality & most were part of the all inclusive, also the draft beer & house wines were included. Watching the sunset from the five o clock somewhere bar was a must, loved this bar in the evenings with local singers & a pack of raccoons visiting daily, we did try the Italian on one occasion but wasn’t overly impressed, ordered a pizza, chose one that didn’t have mushrooms as I have an allergy, but when it came it was loaded with mushrooms so had to send back, atmosphere was strange with music from the...Good hotel in a great location on Playa Flamingo beach. Watching the sunset from the five o clock somewhere bar was a must, loved this bar in the evenings with local singers & a pack of raccoons visiting daily, we did try the Italian on one occasion but wasn’t overly impressed, ordered a pizza, chose one that didn’t have mushrooms as I have an allergy, but when it came it was loaded with mushrooms so had to send back, atmosphere was strange with music from the godfather playing in the background & the waiter wearing a jesters hat, just odd. The pool area was good, always a lounger available but lack of shade so was only able to lay out for a couple of hours each morning but that suited us as we like to explore in the afternoons. The beach across the road is stunning, there are some annoying venders that pester you everyday at the entrance but just say a polite no and they do eventually leave you alone.
There are a few bars & restaurants within walking distance if you fancy a change of scenery, we particularly liked scooters skates & chilling & Marie’s. We hired a golf buggy for the day from across the road, this was great fun, around $65 a day, we were able to explore Las catalinas, a newly built resort with a stunning little beach, also rode to Brasilito. There is a little supermarket across the road at the plaza if you need a few snacks etc... We did a day tour to Mountverde cloud forest, it was a long day but well worth it. So we loved Costa Rica and the people, and the hotel was a good choice for our first stay here, just needs a few improvements.More
