Our stay in the casita was as restful and refreshing as anything we've experienced. Tim and Kim were terrific hosts who greeted us as we arrived and gave us the tour. Throughout our 9-day stay they were always available, but didn't hover. We found them to be a wealth of information, both on the local area and the ups and downs of expat living.

The casita was ideal for the two of us. Sharing it with a couple of kids would have been entirely workable. Sharing it with another adult couple probably would have been uncomfortable. Kim did a sensational job putting together a coffee table book with all the local beaches and specific driving instructions. Rent a 4-wheel drive vehicle when you come. Most beach roads are unpaved and a sense of adventure is a handy item to pack.

I can't begin to recall all the different species of birds we saw just sitting on the patio. A friendly coati named Doug ate us out of house and home the first day, so we always stocked up on extra papaya and cantaloupe afterward. A restaurant with a sensational view is less than a 5-minute walk away when you want to eat someone else's cooking, or you can cook up a storm in the kitchenette.

We enthusiastically give two thumbs up to this lovely corner of heaven and the great people who live there. Pura vida!

“Not as expected”
Reviewed 2 April 2015 for a stay in March 2015

Even thou we paid for 4 people, there was not room for 4 people inside the Casita, the fridge was really small, we could not fit our food in there. There was no TV, A\C was only for the bedroom. There was only parking space for one car. The price seems too much for what we got.

We spent 10 relaxing days at the guest house and were very pleased with the choice we made. Our intentions were to cook our own breakfast each day, pack a lunch for our outdoor daytime activities and either eat dinner out or cook at home. We were adopted by a local cat who was happy to eat our leftovers and we also became friendly with Doug - a coati that lives nearby but breakfasts at the house each morning. The house is in a very good location which allowed for daily trips to local beaches for snorkeling and surfing/body-surfing and was also 20 minutes from the town of Tamarindo which provided more activities - shopping, dining, etc. should we desire.
The food in the newly opened restaurant in the compound served excellent food with a spectacular view which was great because it was walking distance from the house. The kitchen supplies were more than adequate for our needs as the hot plate and mini-fridge allowed for us to cook daily breakfasts and prepare our lunch for eating on the beach and we easily prepared several dinners during our stay.
We found the beach at Bahia Pirate (3 kms from the house) to be especially good for snorkeling and relaxing and there were plenty of shaded areas.
My wife and I were comfortable on the double bed but would have preferred a queen size and the internet access was a little slow and not accessible from inside the house. The road to the house was in very poor shape due to recent rainfall so we opted to park our rental car at the bottom of the hill and walk up the small hill to the house each day. Not major issues but these are the reasons for our 4-star rating rather than 5.
Kim and Tim are wonderful hosts and were very helpful questions we had regarding the area and with suggestions for places to go.

“A Perfect Oasis”

This was a fantastic place to stay! There is something so peaceful about the location that it was the perfect place to unwind and relax! The rooms are bright and airy and the view from the deck was perfect to enjoy with a cup of coffee. Kim and Tim were great hosts and very knowledgeable about the area. There's some lovely beaches really close by, even one in walking distance. Monkeys, turtles, coatis, snorkelling... there is tons of wildlife to discover! One of my favourite excursions from here was walking along the beach to Brasalito, a nearby town, for breakfast at a local soda (cafe). I'm already planning my next visit and am looking forward to staying here longer next time!
