Horrible. Booked a dorm, 20 people in one room, dirty bathroom. Bugs all over the bad. Asked to move to a private, had to insist in order to get a reasonable offer rather then 285 FG a night at 22.30 at night.

Dear 485Shiria,
It is sad to note the bad experience you had encountered at our Uprising Beach Resort 20 bed dormitory. The issue had been dealt with accordingly with our Housekeeping Team resulting in the approval for a room move to a Gardenview Bure with a reasonable offer.

On behalf of our Uprising family, we hope that you will be able to revisit us in the near future.

The friendly Uprising Resort situated just off the Queens Road in Pacific Harbour is becoming popular for having friendly staff, a great beach, comfortable bures, cottages and Dorm. The new top sporting facilities are top class and provide visitors the chance to watch our world famous Rugby Sevens Team in action! The Uprising caters to singles, couples, families and groups. Arrived on the Sunday in the rain after a 3 hour private transfer to be told our villa not ready as roof leaking. Into bure #8 for one night. Got villa #8 about 1pm after cleaners finished, very nice with lovely invigorating outside shower! Patio area only cleaned once during an 8 night stay though. Frog poo and wee found regularly in bathroom and bedroom area, not helped I suppose by 7 days constant rain.
Talking of rain, bring or borrow an umbrella, as when the heavens open, there are no phones in the room, so if you want room service because of the weather, you have to go to the restaurant to order your food anyway!
Anand the chef manager, (who is a great guy) should really be in charge of the hotel as he is so much more productive than the current manager, and nothing is a problem for him.
Great bar and reception staff, including Paul, Malakai, Arietta , Mikail, Jennifer and Julia who really make this place.
There is also a regular at the bar, a gentleman called Derek, who is like a great front of house spokesman, extolling his knowledge of all things local. A real gent.
It is however in Fiji, so don’t expect a rapid response to virtually anything. When the air conditioning packs up, or your toilet won’t flush, expect a “they’ll see you in the morning”. Even if that’s at 4.30pm!
Woken at 06.45 one morning by a local girl requesting 10 dollars per person for the manager of the hotel. Apparently she done the rounds of every room, and had been thrown off site the previous evening. This is a huge security issue, as there is a guard station right behind villa 8.
As nearly all the local activities are water based, and most were suspended due to the flooding we moved back to Nadi early.
When the rain did stop, we looked forward to some serious sun bathing, but the only loungers available are made of a contoured hard plastic that’s very uncomfortable.
Apart from their corporate events, I don’t think the hotel is actually very well set up for daytime occupancy, hence the review title.

Dear flattopsteve,
Thank you very much for a very constructive feedback/reviews about your experience at the Uprising Beach Resort. It was indeed a sad experience with so much rain not only at the resort but all over the Fiji Group.

I wish to take ownership as the Resort Manager for all this shortfalls since our timings of removing the thatching from most of the Villa roofs didn't go as planned thus adding to more roof leakage.

Despite the sad experience, our staff still manage to put a Big Bula Smile on your faces with their exceptional services with the likes of Chef Anand, Paul, Malakai, Arieta, Jennifer and even our great loyal friend Mr Derrick.

Be rest assured that all your issues had been dealt with accordingly.

On behalf of the Uprising Beach Resort family, we hope that you will be able to return and enjoy our Fijian hospitality.

There are three hotels in Pacific Harbor which is a 45 to one hour drive from Suva. We came here to outgas after diving on Taveuni. Suva is not the nicest place and so Pacific Harbor was created to get away. Uprising is more of a lower end group type place. The beach is ok because of the reef shelf that creates a drag on the water clarity. The rooms were ok but basic square with lots of beds for large parties. Bathroom was small and sink was minimal with minimal water. Outside shower looked cool but no hot water. This is a great spot for a summer camp, sport teams, youth groups which is cool but I have been there and done that. Pretty basic breakfast, no coffee just coffee packs and hot water to clue you in. Dinner purchased was good. We left after one night and found the Pearl down the road.

Room tip: I guess one of the rooms in the front and closer to ocean

Dear OrangeCounty,
Thank you very much for a constructive review. It is nice to hear that you had enjoyed your short stay with us. Unfortunately, the continuous water disruptions around the area has been an ongoing issue. We are really trying our very best to install additional water tanks which we hope can ease unnecessary pressure to all our valuable guests.

Additionally, we will try our best to enhance our breakfast buffet and coffee experience to our guests satisfaction.

Just returned home from a 10 night stay at Uprising in a Villa. In short, we would happily go back, but we would be more aware of some of the negatives..

The good bits:

The staff were all great, I cant think of one staff member that didn't greet us with a 'Bula' and some went above and beyond and will be sorely missed.

The grounds are beautiful. Stunning gardens, well maintained by some lovely staff who even delivered us a coconut with instructions to put it in the fridge and they would return the next day to open it for us.

The Villas are great. Plenty of space. Looking a little tired maybe, and yes there are a lot of ants, but overall could not have been happier.

The location was one of the main reasons I chose Uprising. I like options, and being in Pacific Harbour meant there were plenty of options to eat at. The Arts Village jus down the road (go via the beach then cut through the park, its much quicker) had everything we could need. We used the bank, got supplies from the supermarket and ate at a couple of the restaurants.

The not so good bits:

Pacific Harbour is far from Nadi Airport. We landed just before 7pm with a pre-booked transfer but it was a 3 hour trip. Suva is closer if you can fly there.

Noise.. unbeknown to us the last friday of the month they have a DJ in and the music is loud. We were about as far away from the restaurant / music area as you can get but we thought it was our neighbours that cranked up the music. I wrote to management and they came the next day to apologise. If we go back, we certainly wont be there on the last Friday of the month again.

Day use.. on weekends the resort gets a lot of day use visitors One day we had what looked like a childs birthday party with jumping castle and a pool full of young kids. This pretty much meant the whole restaurant and pool area was too noisy to relax in, so we had to chill in our room. It would have been good to know these things beforehand as we would have organised a tour or caught the bus into Suva. Unfortunately by the time the party arrived it was too late for us to get out of there for a few hours.

Overall we were pretty happy here. The breakfast buffet is limited, and depending on who was at the egg station the omlette might be awesome of inedible. But overall the food was of decent standard. Having said that there are plenty of other places to eat within a 10 minute walk if it is not to your liking. The beach was ok, not really a great swimming beach, but it doesn't suffer the hundred meter long low tide that the Coral Coast suffers from. You wont want to snorkel off this beach.

Overall we missed the place when we moved closer to the airport for our final nights and stayed in a more traditional hotel room. Something nice having a whole villa to yourself.

Room tip: The villas are great.

Dear marcbester,
Thank you very much for your honest and recent reviews about your 10 night stay at the Uprising Beach Resort. It is great to know that you had a wonderful stay, you did enjoy the food, despite the negatives which our team are seriously looking into. I wish to take ownership of the negative experience that you had encountered during your stay since there wasn't any guest letter provided by us in advance notifying our guests on events happening during the week.

The resort is family oriented and guests need to expect a lot of families and children utilizing our resort facilities during weekends.

Be rest assured that our team won't take your feedback lightly and will address it accordingly.

On behalf of the entire resort team, we looking forward in receiving you both in open arms when you return.

Vinaka Vakalevu.
