Likuliku Lagoon Resort

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 3 weeks ago
Likuliku exceeded our expectations - the snorkelling was amazing, the over water bures were lovely, the staff so genuinely friendly & accomodating. The food & musicians who played every lunch time & dinner time were fantastic.
Highly recommend & we definitely plan to return.

Dear Jun

For the benefit of the Trip Advisor community, as our reputation is paramount, rest assured this complaint was taken very seriously. The police were called to the resort to investigate.

The police reviewed all resort security camera footage where your bags were tracked leaving the room and their storage at the reception. The police interviewed team members, searching their residences and interviewed you also.

The conclusion of the police report was that they were unable to find any evidence to support your claim.

The police have also advised that other factors, such as the money lender where you changed your money and the time your bags were unattended when travelling to the resort, must also be considered. The police also advised you that when travelling in any country, your money and your passport are the two items you must keep on your person at all times unless they are stored in a resort safe, for which only the customer knows the entry code.

This is not a common occurrence at our resort and hence we were disappointed to receive this allegation. It is also distressing for our team members who were interviewed by the police, but we do take full action to protect our reputation.

Jun, your review is an unfounded accusation and we request you take it down please or we will enact legal avenues of our own.

Many thanks,

This was perfect place to celebrate our anniversary. The resort and the staff were exceptional with their lovely Fijian hospitality.

The over water bures are absolutely stunning. The access from them, the water, the housekeeping, all fantastic. Food and beverages also great service. However, it does not live up to the 5-star experience as you can see the workers are tired, and moody at times. Above average service, Stellar location.

Highly recommend! This was probably one of the most beautiful places we’ve been. We stayed in a deluxe ocean front bure and couldn’t be happier with our choice. The property is absolutely beautiful and the staff was amazing.

We really enjoyed our 6 nights at the Likuliku Lagoon Resort.

The food was exceptional! We fashion ourselves as foodies and ALL of the meals were some of the best resort food we’ve had: it was sometimes quite creative and all delicious. Even the burgers at the pool bar were so good we ate there twice.
The snorkeling at the resort is also some of the best we’ve experienced!

The water is ultra-warm and we marveled at all the different fish species we saw: blacktip and whitetip sharks, turtles, moray eels, stingrays, eagle rays, puffer fish, needle fish, etc., etc., etc.

Our biggest complaint was the slow service, especially the drink service as sometimes we would not get our wine or beverages until half way through our meal. Especially when ordering a bottle of wine to pair with your food, it shouldn’t arrive when you’ve already eaten half your food! After the 2nd meal, we started asking for our wine to be delivered immediately, and that helped. The drink service was slow for all meals, even breakfast with our cappuccinos not arriving until well into our meal.

Food service was also slow: some waits between courses were so long (and I am a notoriously slow eater) that we started to wonder if they were even going to bring the next course.

The wait staff were all extremely nice, but the resort clearly needs to hire more bar and kitchen staff.

As you walk up the two flights of stairs to the Fijiana restaurant, you can feel the temperature increase by several degrees and the restaurant does not have enough air flow (it needs the windows to open up more, more fans, etc.) so it could get uncomfortably hot in the restaurant, especially when the meal took so long. Tip: for dinner, do what you can to be seated outside for airflow: it was MUCH better, but seats are limited.

Also, they launched their app while we were there and we found some information on the app was not accurate, so be careful if using it to plan your day. (It gave the wrong time for food service at the pool, the menus were not fully correct, the wine list mostly incorrect, etc.)

It sounds like we had a lot of complaints, but we really did enjoy our time and would very much consider staying there again when we return to Fiji as that is how impressive the food and snorkeling is. We wish TripAdvisor had a 4.5-star rating, as that is what we’d give Likuliku.

Tip: if you are discerning traveler, do NOT take the ferry to/from the resort as it is a sweatbox (what the ferry’s website says is highly misleading). If you can afford it, take the helicopter, book a private boat transfer – anything but get on the ferry.

Tip: you can only snorkel within about 2 hours on either side of high tide (so a 4-hour window); thus, if snorkeling is important to you, plan your time there accordingly.

Dear Rick

Thank you for sharing your recent Likuliku experience with the Trip Advisor community.

It's great to read that you had an enjoyable stay with us including our amazing house reef and enjoyed our culinary offering.

I must apologize for slow service experienced at your mealtime, this is not the normal high standard we strive to achieve but with some unexpected staff absenteeism we admit we were a bit stretched at the time of your stay. Rest assured we will work with the team on this.

Please be advised that on our resort mobile app we do have a disclaimer on the page where you download the menus stating that "Menu items may change depending on product availability". We do our utmost to maintain the menus but do have to substitute ingredients when fresh ingredients are unavailable. We will look to put this on our app menus also so that it is more obvious.

Thank you for highlighting the pool service timings we have now updated this to avoid any confusion.

Please be advised that the tides in Fiji can vary according to the moon phase and when we have King low tides like at the time of your stay guests generally snorkel form the jetty. However, for the majority of the time outside of King Low tides snorkeling is easily accessible the majority of the day.

We understand that Canada is a long way to travel but we do hope we will have the opportunity to welcome once again to the shores of Likuliku Lagoon Resort.

Warm Regards
Brad Calder
