We spent 6 weeks at Lotus Ocean View Escape. The apartment is lovely in many ways, spacious, bright and breezy. The attention to detail in all of the furnishings is amazing a combination of antique and up-cycled, excellent design and commendable ethos. Being on the top floor you get some lovely see views, a refreshing sea breeze and a little added privacy. The neighboured is also pretty special, local and at ease, so you can have a very cultural experience here should you like. Further more Lars has been a wonderful host and has dedicated his time to show us around and take us to some interesting places which in itself has been priceless. If you want to have a meaningful travelling experience and a unique place to stay whilst in Melaka then I highly recommend a stay at Lotus. The overall experience at Lotus is excellent value for money.

I've been staying here for four weeks now and I really love this place. I have spent a lot of nights in hotels all around the world. From 1 star to 5 stars. The most places have the same problem. They feel like a hotel... this place is not a x star hotel. It's much better. There are generous space with big rooms. You can see for miles over the city or the ocean. For me it's the perfect place to relax and figuring out stuff. I rented a bicycle and went for rides in the morning and at the evening to explore. The hot hours are well spent on one of the balconies or in a sofa listening to the ocean and the city. I've falling in love with Melaka and I will stay at the same place when I come back.

This fantastic accommodation is top floor of a 4 floor residential building - no tourists!
No lift but then it is not a tall building. Being top floor there are pleasant breezes and views - most of the surrounding properties are local residents and only 1 or 2 floors so the views are right over the rooftops and into the heart of Melaka. Being top floor also allowed total privacy for sunbathing or living in shorts although the sun is pretty vertical and therefore there may only be an hour or so opportunity - quite enough to burn as the sun is actually too hot for lying around in! Air-Con if needed but the breeze was usually quite sufficient even at night when the temperature drops to low/mid 20s
For me this was the perfect location. A bit out from town centre (I did manage to walk into town once) but I had a motorbike which made this the cheaper option (accommodation+bike - motor or cycle) than staying in the town centre and only having a very basic room. This allowed me to travel and see the surrounding areas too. But then I was here for 6 weeks! And how lovely not to have the pressure of time - I was able to read books and drift around as it pleased. I arrived in Feb and the first day there it rained on/off but otherwise a dry 6 weeks. I almost hoped for the sky to cloud over just to take the edge off the heat which is 33/35c although my gizmo said it felt like 40C+ when the weather was humid. But not as hot and tropical as I had feared.
Come again - most definitely! A few weeks R&R and then a few more weeks out on the road exploring Malaysia. A year ago I had thought I might retire to Vietnam but now I may retire to Malaya (no VISA problem) and then commute to the rest of South East Asia. KL is a fantastic airport with a direct bus between Melaka and KL airport (or city for further day trips). How convenient can it become.

Great value for the money. The apartment is spacious, clean and very cozy artistic decorated. Safe, private and quiet. Top floor, fabulous view and breeze, enjoyed the balcony and hammock for hours. Great welcoming landlord that shared local knowledge so I got a real taste of Melaccas wonderful cheap local food, and what to experience. Added lots of extra value! Bikes is the way to get around and available. Hope to come back!:)
