Stayed two nights at the Holiday Inn Express next to the airport. Reason for choosing hotel is it's closeness to the airport as we will be travelling again with early flights and the traffic in and around the airport gets hectic.
Arrival we were met by the parking staff and security staff, bags were collected and scanned and kept aside, when asked they will be taken to our room once check in is completes.
Check in, we were greeting by Abhi, upbeat, friendly and professional. Great energy. Booking was confirmed, passport, visa and entry stamp page were all copied/scanned. Abhi, made my day when he saw I was from South Africa he asked if I have a firearm to declare. I had to ask him to repeat the question as I was speechless... Lol.
He explained that there is a fair amount of South Africans who travel with a firearm. He proceeded to explain the policy, security and safety protocols if I were to have one. This was very impressive. Our bags were collected and delivered to our room.
Room was clean, well set up and only needing to stay for two nights and being an express property it was good. Few minor issues showing signs of age but none that impacted the stay. Carpet stains, stain on sofa and dark grout in the shower. Room number is, 0105.
Lunch was good, clean, well set up dining area. Staff don't wear name tags and when asked for name they tend to just stare back and repeat the previous question they asked. The wait staff don't smile and look unhappy. Orders were taken, 25 to 30 minutes waiting time which we were advised off by our waiter... Express property... Only the two of us in the restaurant... No idea why the wait. The time was 3.30pm and within the operating hours.
Food arrived, entire order was placed on my side of the table and nothing at my partner side. Food was OK... Nothing special.
We called it an early night as we had a long day already. Bed and linen and towels were awesome. This was impressive and comfortable bed. A/C was well adjusted too.
The morning went well, very busy in the restaurant area tables were being cleaned and set promptly. Buffet style breakfast, great variety for both Indian and tourists. Same was noticed that staff don't wear name tags besides the front desk and two staff I saw near the beverage counter... assuming they are middle management.
Heading back to the room we needed an iron, none provided. Called front desk and an iron and ironing board was sent up. Iron needs to be replaced and iron board cover changed.
Overall we only used the hotel due to its closeness to the airport and to sleep. We did not use any other hotel facility except to sleep and have dinner.
