If you are around darjeeling and looking for an exotic location to stay, this would be one.
I stayed in the mud hut. Very authentically constructed. Got them to turn off the power for the night to make it even more authentic. Right in the midst of trees with stream of water flowing behind, you feel right in the well of nature. Got to see hell lot of fireflys near the hut after dark.
It is not just the physical aspects of a building that make it special. You have interesting hosts, who understand nature and go to great lengths in sustainable living. They told us their efforts in avoiding plastics, why they got into permaculture, (they grow some of the vegetables/elaichi etc), their interest in music.
We had a musical night, with guitars and flute, at the bonfire in the evening along with another guest from Netherlands.
All these made the experience special. I will definitely visit again if i am around.

Hey Nikhil,

Thank you. That was a special night indeed! Bonfire, guitar, flute and gypsy harmonic singing by Sanne was quite a fusion! :)

Hope to see you again. :)

When I want to take a break from daily schedule..search for offbeat destination..this place has given me experience to trek, listen to the chirruping for various birds and the pleasant doubt of the water stream...I would recommend to carry a tracking shoe which will help you to walk down the forest.. excellent hospitality... organic food... barbeque...and ofcourse tongba...simply breathtaking experience...

Hey Shayantani,

One evening was too short a time for all the good times we shared. Thank you for the wonderful review. We hope to see you back in our forest soon.

P.S.- A big hug to your awesome Mom from everyone here at Tieedi. :)

We've spent 3 nights there. It was the most inspiring time of my West Bengal trip. The two owners are happily give you a tour in the garden/forest and tell you their amazing stories about the farm. You can learn a lot about permaculture and organic farming, great philosophy without posing, etc. We were cooking together one evening. The food is amazing anyway, almost everything is freshly from the garden, I never head such a healthy food in India. The neighborhood is full of trekking or running paths, and it is completely safe – even for a girl alone. If you have just a couple of days in West Bengal, I recommend to spend it here. :)

Hey Eszther,

It was such a pleasure to host you and Archana at Tieedi. We started with probably two morsels of love and ended up with more than 'Five Morsels of Love' in all that great conversations, Tongba and lipsmacking food from recipes that jumped out of Archana's interesting cook-book. We miss your positive energy and great vibes! Come back soon. :)

On reaching our homestay, we realised it was a few miles before the main town Darjeeling and were a little skeptical about our short one day trip, but after the warm welcome by our host Ashna (and Bhai, Jhumki and coco) and a refreshing cup of tea, we left for Darjeeling and were totally happy that our accommodation is a little away from the maddening crowd of the hill station and yet well connected.

The room was really cozy and the food was awesome. You can't get the home cooked meals with homegrown herbs anywhere other than Tieedi.

The best part about the stay was the walk down the trail to the small ecofriendly earthy dwelling and stream ( that we thought were the natural untouched forest and stream) but is a genuine and awe-inspiring effort by Utsow, Ashna and their team towards restoring the fast depleting natural resources.

The itinerary they recommend is worth trusting.

We are really glad our first homestay experience was really good and would love to stay there again.
( The photographs are a glimpse through the window and the beauty about to bloom outside the room)
