Had to choose this hotel as had meeting in chankyapuri area.
Very huge hotel with no amenities.
The staff dont feel happy for new guest. You will be just standing on reception and they will be chit chatting, until you remind that you have paid and they need to give a room.
Check in process takes 15mins, and check out my bell boy didnt come in 60 mins to take luggage and finally i had to only carry myself to save my time.
Only one person to do all process of check out and they dont give you bill if you dont ask.
Wi fi of this hotel is superb. They dont connect for half of the day and when they connect they again disconnect in 5 mins.
Only best part of this hotel is that the IT department people respond very well but they cant help with the wifi still.
The hotel room is still of 1980’s style... and not repaired since then.
Being a couple i was given two single bed and requested to change but didnt happen.
Bathroom towels are yuk .

Big rooms, old furniture and carpets, large foyer, Good place to have Breakfast esp. in the Winters, small gym, Old style Room Service personnel, all describes an old Hotel called Samrat. Entrance to hotel is off-road. And, Beds are not comfortable.

The food quality was very good. Staff was also very courteous. Hotel was neat and clean. The sound inside the hotel was very less. Well located hotel in Delhi. It's close by to all the embassy area. One can easily reach this hotel without any problem.

I'm not sure how long this hotel has been around but one can tell from the looks of the place that its a long time.
The place is in great need of a makeover or simple basic maintenance.
The staff however tries to accommodate you in all requests.
I stayed for 2 weeks on an international conference with 32 other delegates.
Hotel was booked for by hosting conference and not my choice.
I had no problems as my time there was only to sleep.
Breakfast was okay but limited if you desire the western style food.
The dine-inn room service menu was limited and not good.
Food is ordered from the hotel nextdoor - The Ashok hotel.
My advice is to take a tuk-tuk go to Connaught place enjoy the ride and the food there.

Over all I wish the management would invest for some upgrades and wish them success.
To any guest that would be visiting on business- you will be just fine but those on vacation may not enjoy the place.

Side note: there's a CLUB at the hotel - (couples only)

I stayed here for a whole month and I hope am not mean due to familiarity and length of my stay. The location seems to be ok and ambiance tolerable. But for starters, check in process is messy. English communication is a struggle with the staff. I was given a room with two miniature beds and despite my pleading that I am tall and have a back problem and needed a room with a single big bed, the answer was always 'changing'. They never changed for the entire period.

Daily cleaning was non existent, they would only change sheets and leave floor and bathroom dirty. Bathroom facilities were terrible! One has to ask for towel change in some days. WiFi is shaky and unreliable but at least the technician would respond to calls to assist.

The hotel only offers breakfast which is the same menu day after day. Lunch and dinner have to be ordered as room service. At least they would deliver the order on time.

TV channels are only for Indian audience save for BBC International.

The gym is bare with only two equipment, a treadmill and a cross trainer. An attendant who is keen to market his martial arts training at a cost every day was always there as a bother. The swimming pool was however good and clean.

The other nasty thing was allowing hawkers and all manner of merchandise dealers to access the rooms of clients.

This is a place of no returning. Thanks.
