Owner description: This tomb, built in 1570, is of particular cultural significance as it was the first garden-tomb on the Indian subcontinent. It inspired several major architectural innovations, culminating in the construction of the Taj Mahal and many other Mughal architecture and garden complexes in India.

We waited for ever in a very long Foreigner queue - we were there late Sunday afternoon - and once inside it just wasn't worth it. A huge building but with nothing very much inside - a tiny, plain tomb & without the intricate architecture of the Taj Mahal. Plain gardens surrounding. Don't know what all the fuss is about!

I have visited twice and been emotional both times. This is such a peaceful place in Delhi. The history is so significant it is worth having a guide to tell you the story. A must see if travelling in Delhi. All ow time to wander and soak it up.

Every tourist coming to Delhi should visit this place as it is one of the most beautiful monument of Mugal Era. This monument is almost 100 year older than Taj Mahal in Agra. It is believed that architecture of Taj Mahal is inspired by this monument in Delhi.

Any review on this piece of architectural marvelous will not be justified. This structure is made of red sandstone which was bought from Rajasthan at that time. Its a combination of Red sand stone & marble. The main tomb structure has intricate jali work done by artisans from Rajasthan. Also it has beautiful manicured gardens around the tomb.
Another must visit place in Delhi.
